Re: Mapping Article by Guy Kesteven ("Mapsturbation")
Just going back to the hipster issue - surely, they all use paper maps already? Do they not favour the 'traditional' - Brooks, Carradice, etc? Also, I'm wondering whether it's fair game to take the p1ss out of hipsters because I'm assuming that (a) no one believes themselves to be one (b) they'd ne...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021
No idea if it's true, but I have read that we can have 3-4kg of meat going through the digestive system very slowly. One thing about weighing yourself on Fridays is that I've learnt to avoid a big roast / barbeque / takeaway on a Thursday to make the numbers look better

31/12/2020 76.5 8/1/2021 75.1 15/1/2021 74.1 According to MFP I should only be losing 0.5kg a week so my numbers are off somewhere. I did have a drink this week, albeit only the one, I've cut out most of the snacks but allowing myself a small chocolate ration, two if I do exercise, seems to be worki...

Re: Taking a knife to a gunfight.
I did the CTC on my gravel bike using my bikepacking bags, does that make it a bikepacking bike?

Re: Taking a knife to a gunfight.
I got my gravel bike to replace my road bike since I wasn't bothered about going that quickly, it was much more comfortable on the country roads and NCN routes I tend to go on around here and I wanted to do some light touring. A gradventourer so to speak. The fact that it's also suitable for the bri...

Re: Today's Run
Have you been riding whilst you've not been running? I think lots of these programs are aimed at people who do no exercise at all, so if you've kept active despite not running you'll progress faster. I also think that as you have been a runner before makes a big difference, it's easier to get it ba...

I’m (re-) using the nhs choices couch to 5k podcast, so not an app as such combined with my garmin watch and before i got the watch, just combined with strava.

Re: Today's Run
Another gentle pootle out today - skipped to the week 2 program, 90 seconds run, 2 minutes walk, rinse &repeat. I missed my cue as a lorry went past so ran for 5 minutes straight in the middle without any issues so going to jump to the week 4 program next time and see how that goes.

Re: Punctures and brakes
On my worst ever ride, I had 7 punctures in 6 miles and ended up walking a few miles home with 2 flat tyres having gone through my spare tubes and patches. After that ride, I converted one of my bikes to tubeless and since then I've only had one puncture that I've noticed at the time. That turned ou...

Re: Favourite kit from 2020
My Stooge Scrambler IMG_0381.jpg What's it like? Are they making any more? It's fantastic. Like a big BMX I guess, but it settles into bikepacking duties really well too. Stooge have previously only done one production run of each frame. All the Scrambler frames have now sold, but I reckon there wi...

Re: Today's Run
It was ok but not great - didn’t feel the ankle other than right after going over a 50m batch of icy path. I wasn’t exactly overdoing it though, just following the nhs couch to 5 k program which this week (week 1) is just run for a minute, walk for 90 seconds, repeat 8 times. I could have probably s...

Re: Today's Run
I nipped out for my first run in 6 months since I fractured my ankle. I’ve just restarted the couch to 5k program again which is probably a little conservative but I feel really unfit so it’s not the worst plan

Re: Favourite kit from 2020
I got very little new kit last year and what I got I didn't end up using a whole heap so I'd have to go for the acepac top tube bag which just gets moved from bike to bike

It’s a wonder what cutting out beer and cake will do. It was also a low meat week so a bit of a flush out of the system.

Apparently having a stressful day allows you more calories with My Fitness Pal. My fitness watch has credited me with around 4 pints of beers worth of calories despite my only real activity being taking a child to the dentist.

Bloody hell this is getting a bit posh now isn't it!?!? Tea pots for proper tea and taking the pi55 in verse  feeling very inadequate now  It's a chocolate teapot. It's chuffing useless  I disagree on the usefulness of a chocolate teapot. While it's not very useful for it's prima...

Re: Rear light?
I have a habit of losing lights that are clipped to seatpost bags so I recently got a Cateye Omni 5 which comes with a mount that fits the seat stay nicely - it takes AAA batteries rather than rechargeable so hopefully it'll be a set and forget light for a while.

Re: winter cycling trousers ?
Similarly to others I’ve used a pair of PI Amfib tights under a set of Endura 3/4s for the last few winters. I’ve got some Madison waterproof 3/4s as an alternative to the Enduras but not tried them yet.

Re: Fat Fighters 2021
If you want to be really accurate you could do a 7 day rolling average like RichardG does and make sure you weigh yourself at the same time of day.
