Re: BB200 goes large.

I think I'm up for this. Haven't done BB since 2014, and that was the worst one, right?

Re: Continental Tyres

I've never had an issue, but like you, I buy the ProTection versions. Though now I've switched to Maxxis on my MTB and CX, great tyres.

Re: HIghland Trail 550 - 2018

Dave's point is exactly why I wouldn't join the group start again, I don't think I can put down a competitive time, and the race is gaining popularity, so best to keep those places open for the fast ones. I know Alan has the final say in who makes it in, so I assume he'd put the fast ones in top of ...

Re: SP Hubs some statistics

Still have one of the first Exposure 15mm hubs going fine. Just a little over 15,000km done offroad on it. It's not been treated well. But still works fine. Mine is an early 15mm one too, and has done at least 15000 km. Has not be treated in any way at all, just ignored. All I've done is unbuild it...

Re: HIghland Trail 550 - 2018

I want to ride the route and finish it, but given my knee is still causing issues, I think it would be better if I didn't join the group start and did an ITT around the same time (a few days prior so I get to see the fast ones overtake me).

Re: TD - To dynamo or no.

I had a dyno and cache battery, I still used the power outlets in motels, just more reliable. Also make sure to get a US USB power supply that is at least 2A output for fast charging. Well my dyno hub is way over 12000 miles now and going strong, Jonnystorm's blew up in Montana. So, it's a gamble too.

I got a pair of their shorts, and they are considerably better than anything I've had before. Definitely worth it. Seems silly to have their name on a swear filter really.

Re: Expensive hipster brand

To add to the made in china comments, china has far more expertise than we do. A friend of mine is head designer for a great outdoor gear company, they wanted to make stuff in the UK, they tried, and got terrible results from various factories, all of which couldn't follow a design spec if their lif...

He seems to find everything boring. Good to know it's one friendly family, after we lost Frank earlier in the week.... I didn't mention Frank, and my comment had nothing to do with Frank. It was an observation of your consistently finding stuff to be boring/dull which often makes me wonder why you ...

Re: Transcontinental 2017 - TCRNO5

^ I've said this to my wife many times too. And to go with Stu's comment about societal risk aversion, people who like to call for bans of these kind of events should know that riders undertake these challenges in the knowledge they could get hit, and maimed or killed. It's happened a lot this year,...

I think that did them a favour. Epic is a terrible name. Must have caused unwanted expense though ... and it never seems like a favour when a court order decides what you can and can't call your own business  You're absolutely right.
