Re: Wildcat 13 litre dry bag
Thanks, might just try that. Significantly cheaper than the wildcat, although will need to put another bag inside if I want to get the extra waterproofing.

Wildcat 13 litre dry bag
Anyone got measurements for the double ended wildcat 13 litre dry bag? Both flat with nothing in it and when packed, if you can. I've got a single sided Alpkit 13 litre one and am hoping it's wider across the bars and might reduce the distance between bars and tyre. I have to really crank an extra s...

As long as it stays to the areas around Loch Lomond that were being abused I've not got a problem with it. Aware it may be the "thin end of the wedge" though.

In the spirit of helpfulness went up and down the burn of brown yesterday. https://www.strava.com/activities/538217375 North side on the way down was easy access (cycled through both rivers) then lots of hike a bike, quite marshy. Managed to get back across at the bottom with dry feet due to goretex...

I've seen a few people saying they use it for a bivvy bag - I didn't think it was breathable?
I sometimes get condensation inside an eVent bag so interested how you cope with a down sleeping bag.

Joystick mk9 on have a wider beam. Not used mine all that much as a helmet light yet though. Mainly commuting in the pulse mode.

Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame
I'll admit to having looked in this area recently. I'm spending a bit of time on a forum dedicated to getting one yourself from China: http://chinertown.com/index.php/board,8.0.html Not sure though. I've had good experience buying Light Bicycle carbon rims for my 29er direct from China. Still mullin...

Re: Bar harness on rigid forks
Not got the revelate, but do have the Alpkit. The struts do fix the problem your talking about. They also raise it up above bar height making fitting a light to the bars a challenge. Just got a joystick for my helmet to deal with this. Other than that the Alpkit is great, although I've made my own s...

No pics of mine but it's MyTiMug based and I carry it in an Alpkit stem cell. The newer stem cells (i.e. not the first batch of them) are designed for it I think.

Re: front mechs, advice please
I've no experience with road stuff but to throw something in from left field - I've used front grip shift with good results mixing triple, double and 8,9,10 speed front mtb. The grip shift has small steps so lets you trim and might fit on the drops. Also, cheap off eBay, little to go wrong with them...

My Oookworks inner for my Trailstar has a Chikara floor and I can vouch for it's effectiveness. Pretty tough and not slidey like Silnylon.

If the bags have a decent seal I always close the top, put them inside my hat and pop it zipped inside my jacket while they rehydrate.

Storing down
I know you're meant to store down somewhere warm to let it dry after you've used it. Any ideas if it's a problem to store it in a warmer cupboard long term? I store my down sleeping bag in the cupboard with the boiler. It's pretty warm in there and I'm worried there's some kind of oil in the spines ...

A liberal application of IPA (7 or 8 bottles) should help with that too.

Re: X-Kings - Pay the extra for the protection tyres?
I heard the 'mould release' stuff was bad for setting up tubeless and you should wipe the inside round with IPA to clean them up. No idea if it was necessary but after doing that my mountain kings went up very easily. Little bit of bubbling but only a couple of spots. They were the protection ones t...
