Re: Wide opening bivi bags
My MLD Superlight and Borah bivvies both have a j zip across the chest and down to the knees neither are waterproof though so it depends what you need. For standalone waterproof I'd echo Stu's suggestion of a Rab eVent bag, mine is a Sierra which I think replaced the Bugaboo MLD Soul are worth a loo...

What's the attraction of the watertogo bottles given their short lifespan compared to sawyers etc, is it just ease of use?

Re: Suggest a bivy bag?
I've got an MLD Superlight which I use on every trip, never let me down since I got it in 2010, Ron calls the bathtub fabric pro silnylon which I think is just 40D. Also got a BG bivvy but it's not a patch on the MLD in terms of quality and finish Treated myself to an eVent Soul bivvy last year but ...

Re: Bikepacking breakfast. Keto options
A keto mate of mine sometimes pre cooks bacon at home and just warms it up in some foil on top of his brew pot, when he brings fresh and does proper cooking I have to make sure I'm upwind of him while I eat my cold pancakes or dodgy porridge Powdered egg is a thing, very packable but I find it a bit...

Re: OT Kelly Kettles
I've got a couple knocking about somewhere, one resembles a golf ball it's got that many dents in it. Used to use them for day paddles and sometimes a woodland walk, a bit of a lump in volume but not overly heavy, not really something you'd take on a multi day trip as they're a bit of a one trick po...

I think I just need to learn to live with it now, it's about as dialed in as I'm going to get it, I suppose it's like SUL backpacking, you have to experience the discomforts to realise your own threshold and find a happy medium.

Jan BAM done Had a nice steady drive up to the Borders on Friday, rocked up to the parking place around 3pm, faffed about with the bike and luggage for half an hour then set off up the glen to find a camp. I've been to the area a few times and know what rough country it is in parts, scruffy forestry...

Great pics Jeff, cracking place for a camp I'm on plan C for next weekend, was originally going to head for Galloway but it sounds like a lots of the trails are still shut after Arwen, plan B was Ennerdale but there's a disease outbreak in some of the Larch so the chainsaw gang are in, so it's plan ...

Re: Hebridean way - when?
We tried to book a ferry at the end of summer and it was completely sold out for weeks, I was told they were running on a reduced service as one of the main ships was out of action, something to do with government funding being pulled I think, understandably they were giving priority to residents an...
