Etrex 20 here.never come off the mount, still use a lanyard though just incase! Easily get 30hrs plus on a decent pair of batteries. Perfect for just following a route. Screen can be a little slow sometimes if you want to pan around to see where the hell you are, but that's ok for a quick rest!

SolarStorm jobby on the bars that I've had a few years with a quality 8cell battery and a recently acquired fluxient u2mini on the helmet that I'm very impressed with(3hrs on high),plus I can carry a spare 18650 if needed for multi-day stuff.. all cheap and cheerful compared to some stuff out there ...

On my Deschutes Iv put a guy on the inside from the top of the pole to the rear middle peg. Nice and right it stops some of the flappiness!

Whatever you do DON'T attempt the Heratige Trail between the Butt of Lewis and New Tolsta. It puts Stu's bog trotting to shame and the Tolsta end is known locally as The Bridge to Nowhere! Even the local vet got lost up there and had to be rescued

Just found these on Amazon and going to give the 110g size a go. Seems a good price for silnylon. The large size might also be good for a MYOG! https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01E0TDH10/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1504558687&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=geertop&...
