Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?
That's how I made the route Keith. But after that I like to ride it for a real feel as I don't like to let loose 7 or 10 cyclists on a 24H route without knowing it's 'safe enough'. But I'm getting old and time is short so thought to use the combined knowledge of the forum to edit and finalise this t...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Now I'll be using the micro chain tool Let me know how it goes as have looked at that tool. Bear is correct, unless you lubed it after the ride it was bound to rust. I had you in mind for this very thing and was about to text ya. The chain is siezed solid (my fault, I know  sorry for causing a...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone chain lube choices. For me the dry lube or various iterations just doesn't cut the winters. No matter how much cleaning (this was just an extreme case, and my bad, agreed).

Thanks Kieth. That's how I found that alternate path above the A5.

Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?
Found a singletrack paved road just above the A5. Leads to b5437 and totall bypasses the A5 from Llangollen to Corwyn. That'll do nicely I suppose. One section ticked off thanks John.

Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?
Thanks John. Looks like I'm on it from Llangolen to Corwen. If I can't see any other obvious detours, I may have to go and ride it afterall and give riding to my sisters in scotland a miss. Fast roads that are narrow. Never my cuppa tea.

A5 near Berwyn looks a bit 'interesting' with potential fast/blind traffic.

Re: What you done t' your bike today
If poorly organised and bad at washing people irritate you, look away now pls  Last rode this bike from Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge and back via Gloucester. 313 miles and about 2h of sleep. Kept it 'ready for riding' ever since I think. Well, it obviously didn't work. This reminds me, I'll be ...

Re: Cranktank 3 vs cages on fork + smartwater bottles
Hi Bonzo. If using a bottle at the downtube it might be an idea to get the mtb version of the camelbak bottles. They come with a rubber cap to protect the teat/tip. I usually carry a 3L bladder inside my framebag. It's the shapeshifter version and can be reduced to 2.5L with an internal baffle. IMO ...

Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?
Hello you all lovely people. I'm feeling a bit lazy and despite having scheduled to recce this route after the month of fasting, I think I might ride to my sisters in Scotland instead. That leaves me with the challenge of not actually having aquainted myself, handson with the route. The problem with...

I know it's not Friday, but it will be soon eid. So... Thought to share some good news here, mainly for Wotsits I guess... This morning I removed both wheels and checked the torques. Previously checking the torques on the fronts (bearings replaced and discs broken so he replaced them too, by Lexu In...

Re: Aeroe rear rack thoughts
Thanks James. IIRC mine on the Transmitter weren't exactly thin but it was also one of the lightest (but strong) frames at the time. 950g or 1050g, I forget which... Size M. I'll see if I can dig out a pic or two.

Re: Aeroe rear rack thoughts
In my head, a manufacturer has designed that forked or spaced it to the forces required (here’s hoping) whilst a lot of manufacturers I’m guessing has not designed the rear stays for such use (and a lot now in design the rears to flex or to be more ‘compliance). Yes, I agree - was just picking up o...

Re: Aeroe rear rack thoughts
Steerers are designed for clamping, as is the seat post/ collar but a chainstay is not. Its not worth the risk The OMM website also takes this approach and hence has most of the clamping force (on frames without chainstay mounts) at the dropouts. I'd personally never clamp anything to the seatstays...

Re: Garmin Screen Protector, do you still bother?
Yes. Put the screen protector on. Even on the latest Wahoo BOLT/ROAM despite the screen looking a bit dull already, it's still a good investment on your investment. But then I've also got a thin glass prtoector on my phone which is an s21 fe Galaxy. Get the screen protector man. :-bd Bro something i...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Thanks Bob :-bd Also, I've found everything can vary from sealant to sealant. On lower pressures (as in mtb) I've hardly ever had to top up pressures but on the road bike with 60 to 70psi I regularly find the need to. But also I am using the evil crushed olive stones sealant which seems to not have ...

Gone tubeless. No more psssing punctures for me. https://i.postimg.cc/xTyFHfX3/1000035760.jpg Beautiful. Remember, when/if you do get a puncture you might have the tendency to want to stop and explore it. Don't... Just ride through it until the sealants done the job. Then careful pump and on you go...

Went to Halfords today after yet another lost rear light. Me being in black clothing I wasn't gonna risk a blind driver. The Viz150, 300 and 100 were £30, £40 and £21 respectively. Quick check on the website and they'd obviously been price matching others. Prices of £21, £30 and £16. Aero post frie...

Since Michael Goves announcement. What's an aero rear rack Phil. Do you mean Tailfin?? In which case I'd go for it. Mate got one given and bought some others. Speaks highly of em and one day I might get the same.
