WTD: 29er Wheelset
Hey all Now the Rooster has gone, I'm looking to pick up a set of 29er wheels. Anything up to an inner width of 29mm should do - running up to 2.4 max tyres size on this wheelset. Ideally: 12x142mm Rear 15x100mm Front Or atleast convertible to the above. Let me know what you've got lurking at the ba...

Re: Reasons for riding.
Where do you even start? I ended up getting back in to cycling as a form of commuting, then it supplemented my training whilst I was fell running and racing, and then it became a core component of adventure racing. Various bike trips sowed the seed of how interesting it was to see the world on a bik...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Never heard of Eaton Hall until this thread but just imagining a bunch of cyclists clogging up the local roads every open day who take a quick look at the hall and retreat. A few rich ones having a cuppa before disappearing. Yep - no doubt there will be a strava segment up the driveway as well

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Yep Eaton Hall is definitely an elusive tile - only way to bag it will be an open day. Hoping August open day will be on, otherwise it’ll be a long wait to next year! Believe me I’ve been staring at this tile for a week or so, and had a look at pretty much every conceivable entrance - all locked gat...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Moved on to 10x10 after this weekends ride. Next tiles look relatively straightforward, however getting much past 12x12 is going to be tricky. I’d plotted a little SUP trip down the River Dee back to Chester to pick up a further 5 tiles, however looking at the map again this weekend I’d overlooked t...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Still sat on 8x8 at the minute. I've got a few tiles rogue tiles to unlock before I push on to bigger numbers, once these are done then 16x16 is ultimately very acheivable given I've covered a fairly large area over the last couple of years since I've moved to Chester. Whichever way, its given me a ...

I bought a Bontrager Flash Charger a couple of years ago and its done me proud - Lezyne do a similar pump.
Honest the best money I've spent on bike bits for a good while - setting up tubless is an absolute breeze with it.

Re: 2nd City Divide
Further north through the borders definitely more suited to a gravel bike with many more road sections, but the southern section is rough - you'll know this being a Fax lad ;-) I rode the southern part in reverse last year on my gravel bike shod in 35mm tyres at the time, definitely way under gunned...

Re: Looking ahead - what are you looking forward to?
Top thread - got to admit I'm feeling much the same and been under a lot of pressure work wise adapting to COVID19 related impact to our business. For me, a lot of the travel plans we've got have been scratched already. Likewise riding time has been a fraction of what I'd normally be doing, but the ...

I’ve got a Tubus Fly that is be happy to move on if there is any interest.
It’s in my garage storage so won’t be able to move on for a couple more weeks until restrictions are lifted.

Yep another one working at home here - I've got a team of 20 all working remotely at the moment although I imagine work will dry up over the next couple of months. Re: G-one tires
Yep - G Ones are great tyres, I've been running them for the past 2 years, and are perfect for my commute which mixes road and a bit of cheeky off-road. All Rounds - are basically that - good for bits of gravel and road - deep mud or loose stuff not so good. Speeds - effectively a road tyre and fair...

Hi Tonto
Potentially up for something like this - my personal preference would the Trans Verdon having ridden in the area before.
How long are you planning for the trip and what time of year?
Cheers
Mike

I'm still a firm advoate of rigid, just for the some of the trips I've got planned it I could certainly do with a bit more squish.
Feel free to give me a shout once you get your bikepacking bicycle up and running - always up for a night out in the hills.

Re: 650B+ Steel Hardtail - thoughts?
Yep agreed! I’ve ridden a few Surlys over the years so a KM would be more of the same.
I rode one of the early Solaris frames and really liked it.
Thanks for the options so far, plenty to mull over.
