Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

They look interesting. Would the large magnet which looks like it would be in contact with the ground not be really slippy walking on rock? I wonder how it all works covered in a good layer of winter slop. I think the magnet is in the pedal and the clear is just a metal plate. I imagine it would be...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

https://gearjunkie.com/hustle-bike-labs-rem-magnetic-pedal-review I've always wondered if having a wider "cleat" might make HAB easier, but appreciate this might just be extra slippery. I'd be interested to see how these work and pricing, might be a fun novelty to try when they're released.

Re: Buying new forks, what do I need to know?

Might be worth getting in touch with Neil at Alpkit and ask him about their new carbon forks, they provided one with my custom build that I presume they'll start selling at some point soon.

I’m going into my second winter with the Prism and I’ve used it for everything from mountaineering to bikepacking to shivering in, post winter swim and it’s not shown any hints of wear and packs down acceptably small to always be in my bar bag/pack

Re: Winter gravel

I'm currently running Terrano XC in 29x2.25 variety on the new monstergravelwnkr and haven't had any issues, they've taken a beating on techy stuff and I assume that they will share some of the same properties with the gravel versions. Cursed myself, going a bit too fast down past Wainhope bothy an...

Reiver Coast to Coast Off Road

Hi all,

Does anyone have a GPX for the Reiver offroad (and onroad if you've got it sitting around) c2c routes? I can find maps etc but no GPX. I know they're signposted but I want to check what's nearby etc.

Cheers,

Andy

Re: Winter gravel

Just my two pence worth, I ran the Rock n' Road in tanwall 650b variety on my old Rose and they were great, set up tubeless and I didn't have a single puncture in 6 months of riding until I tore the sidewall on a rock slide what was quite honestly silly terrain to be riding them/the bike on. Kept th...

Re: The post man's been ...

Err no. When it comes to seam sealing, less is more as more can pull away from the fabric. A very thin (often diluted) layer is usually much better. Thanks for that, having looked at it dried, it looks much better than expected and there doesn’t seem to be an issue with it when you pull the seams t...

Get a set of those "a different colour for each food type" chopping boards, which are one or two mm thick. Set of 4 for a couple of quid, from B&M - not my usual shop, but I was on a serious "hunting for stuff that can be repurposed" mission Actually went out with this expre...

Re: Lockdown creations

Very nice Sadly my MYOG skills are severely lacking when it comes to sewing machines I tried to make some face masks in lockdown and nearly launched the SM out of the window. I did the same, I found using old T-shirt fabric was way harder than this tough ripstop-like material. Following a pattern f...

Hi bob, I think I've got 10 year old Rockshox something in the depths of the bike cave. However it has never been serviced other than me adding a bit of fork lube every so often and it hasn't been ridden in over a year, if it's of interest drop me a PM with your email and I'll send you some pics.

Lockdown creations

Shortly before lockdown a friend gave me their old sewing machine knowing that I had an intention of making my own bags. I bought some cheap thread, zips and material and had a crack at making various things: Various phone and parts bags, a tool roll and stuff sacks https://live.staticflickr.com/655...

It looks like a great ‘value’ alternative to a Ti Fargo, which is top of my dream bike list. I need to save my pennies (for quite some time  ) I had been looking at the Ti Fargo and the Cutthroat and after a (very long) period of indecision seemed like the best value option and I’m glad I went...

I was fortunate to wangle a bit of a discount, so it worked out at roughly the same price as a stock Ti Camino, but they included a sun race cassette and tubeless set up too.

Re: The post man's been ...

What size is it and how is the toe clearance, please? It’s custom geometry, but it fits like a large frame Camino although this is a bit taller all over than the Camino, a fair bit less stand over but still enough for me. Toe clearance is fine. I run my cleats far back, I’m a size 9.5 and theres pl...
