Re: BB200 minimum kit

That's my plan. Unless it's pissing down all day then I'll be straight in a bothy.

Trying to decide whether to take 2 season bag and down jacket or 4 season and thermals.

Re: The BB 200 Thread

What are your plans for water on the route?

I know of a few places where I could fill up but there's a few big gaps to cover. I'll happily fill up from streams higher up but not lower and don't want to carry a filter.

Re: The BB 200 Thread

Will they be able to tell me how to "get ripped abs in just 30 mins!" or something. ;-)

Stuart - are you going to publish an entry list? or should we just raise our hands on this thread and say I?

Bivi-ing without a sleep pad.

Was thinking about my kit for the BB200, and to save weight and bulk considering not taking my alpkit wee airic and going completely without. Or maybe taking some bubblewrap.

what do people think?

merino riding jerseys

I want to get a long sleeve merino riding top for autumn (think it would be good for bb200). Would like something a little heavier weight than the base layers mostly available in merino. Looking at on-one they seem seem good tops for the money - anyone got one? Also any other bargains out there to i...

Re: Bike For Life, Fact or Fiction?

Hmm. I bought a Robin Mather custom 853 mtb frame in 2004. it's still my top mountain bike. things have changed a bit since i got it. Fitted longer adjustable travel (designed around 100mm) forks and wider bars. it's still a bloody brilliant ride and very comfortable. in the bottom right from wrt in...

Planning to do an 80 mile pennine bridleway/sustrans route in sep with kit to test everythings working ok. plus if stuff works out a road 100 miler. otherwise the usual ride to work and occasional eve...

On bikehike when you create the route do you need to set it to follow roads on openstreetmap in the options box to make it give nav cues?

GPS Again, again! (sorry) - routes or tracks?!

So I've got my etrex 20, downloaded some tidy looking opensource mapping from talkytoaster. Now do I download my planned routes to follow as a route or a track? routes appear to have loads of waypoints on them which are a bit distracting and random on the screen. Tracks don't have this but I've read...

Sausage and apple pies. made small for easy packing and snacking. fry onions, add meat from sausages. add chopped, skinned apple. cook through. add creme fraiche and wholegrain mustard and leave to cool. make (or buy if you are lazy) pastry - use shortcrust - and line small alumnium pie tins/cake ti...

Re: The BB 200 Thread

My first bb200. Was planning to go last year but my daughter was born the weekend before. I'm very excited and a bit nervous. Although I have done a few rides in this part of wales. Mostly in horrendous weather. Really hoping for good weather for bb200, if it is good i am hoping to break 24 hours. I...

Re: Bivi bag & sleeping bag...

I'm also on the lookout for a lightweight budget sleeping bag. Found Vango Ultralight 350, weighs 750 grams, packs to 18 x 16 cm. it's 48 quid at go outdoors. it's going to be a summer bag only but with clothes and a liner I suppose it could be boosted. Years ago I had an ultralight 1100 and it was ...

Re: Trans Cambrian Way ITT ... is here!

Hello Just a word to let you know how we did. As the WRTers will attest, the weather yesterday was filthy. We did ok from our 6am start, apart from a minor nav error and my front brake pads falling out we made Rhayader in 4 1/2 hours. By that point we were soaked to the skin and freezing. James wasn...

Re: Welsh Ride Thing 2012

Was thinking if we would be meeting any of you WRT'ers when we do our our TCW attempt on the sunday.

Roughly which direction from HQ are the checkpoints?

If our paths do cross, say hi and give us some encouragement?

(Does a flapjack exchange count as external support?)

Re: Trans Cambrian Way ITT ... is here!

Thank you so much for your donations and kind words. We have tried to do something each year in Henry's memory to help 2 charities who helped us. Sadly the numbers of still birth or neo-natal deaths are not reducing, and it's not well known how common it is. In previous years we did the welsh 3000s ...
