Re: Diary of a Randonneur
Niel... Not sure if you're up to date with the LeJOG issue but Andy Corless has put a few updates on the YACF. Has rescheduled the event for next year but not response to anyone thats asked about refunds or partial refunds cos they won't be ablr to make the provisional new dates. Personally I've no...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Nice one Neil! I thought I was keeping in the game coming up to 34 but you’ve banked a few there, I could go to 34+ with one ride but at the moment I’m suffering from serious foot pain, much over 20 miles and I’m gambling on having to unclip and pedal with my midfoot balanced on a crank brothers ca...

In this one I go for a ride on a very hot day and then allow my sun addled brain to talk about the AUK statement from June 17th, give predictions on the restart to the season and finally talk through my modified goals for the 2020 season. https://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Did a burn out at Coventry today which took me to 27x27. https://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/27x27.png More to the point though this now leaves me 1 ride away from 38x38! Also here's my latest episode with a bit more square related stuff going on. Diary of a Randonneur - ...

This happened to me on the BB200 in 2014. Fortunately, I only lost about 4 miles at the very end.

Re: The Acepac luggage I mentioned.
I'm very happy with the bar bag and the saddle pack that I have. I use the bar bag quite a bit now that I'm taking more pack lunches with me riding instead of cafe stops. The bag is a decent size but generally barely noticeable on the front. It has a handy hole in the back to run a cable from a boos...

Re: Tarp and Bivi curious
I am a great lover of flat tarps but these days, the shelter I use most often is a Gatewood cape. Weighs less than 300g (or 400g with pole / pegs). It can be set up very quickly and forms a stable shelter that can provide full coverage. Not too costly either. I really like the look of this; weight,...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
As it looks like the Audax season will be restarting in August I'll be doing a bunch of 200s around the north Cotswold area. We should meet up.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Nice ride today, I’ve neglected the Cotswolds even though it’s almost on my doorstop. Some great gravel tracks and quite lanes with pretty views and some up. I enjoy a ride in the Cotswolds but by the shortest route it is 50km to the north tip so it's always a big day out to get in a decent lump of...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
The ride was from 2 weeks ago now but it did include a monster square haul, something like 90! It was my first 200 for a while and it was good to stretch the legs a bit. :-bd https://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/episode_13_video_thumbnail.png https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: Are 26ers dead and whats the new 'economical' persons standard
Given you can still get 7,8 and 9 speed parts, 26" wheels and tyres, square taper BBs, and V brakes, I'm struggling to see where the problem lies. This is what I was going to say. I run 9 speed on my steel CX bike and not finding it difficult to get parts. I run 2 26" mountain bikes and c...

I really enjoyed that, thought it was good. Nice to see some other ideas put into a bikepacking video.
Whether you like it or not is one thing but it is well made, the edit is excellent.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Hopefully you found the (obvious) track around the MOD site Neil - it looks like you did, but I never came across any electric fences..... There's a bit of exploring to do around there - but I get the impression that if you go off piste then a MOD Land Rover is going to appear out of nowhere. Yeah ...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Had a blast near that MOD site last night and picked off a few solo squares in that area. The bridleway that just touches the edge of the site is a good stretch. I was off the bike, jumping a fence and yomping through a field at one point only to hit an electrified fence at the other side that stopp...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
You can just use Veloviewer in the browser on a phone. I did this other day when I realised that my planned route meant climbing a locked gate. You don't get your location marked but its normally easy enough to work out where you are.

Re: Roadies playing music out loud
There are 2 different people who commute into Birmingham on the same route as me that I used to see a few times a month that have a speaker attached to their bikes. One normally plays music and the other radio. I'm always just a bit bemused by it honestly.

Re: Top Tube Bags (again)
I have found the Restrap one to be excellent. Been through a few and this has certainly been the best one. Doesn't move about and keeps it shape so it's easy to zip up one-handed which was the holy grail for me. The strap that goes around the top tube is rubberised on the inside to help stop it slip...

I'm pretty sure not. If you save the files as GPX on a PC then there'd be no issue. On the other hand, I'm still on the free to use non-signed up cheapskate variant of Strava, and I can still access routes I'd set up beforehand via the IQ Strava app on my Garmin.... not sure if I'm supposed to be a...

Re: KAPZ - Bearbones design ?
Well I seem to remember asking you if you were going to do cycle caps and top caps at the end of last year, So I'm certainly in for a stop being soft top cap. I actually started working up some of my own artwork using the skull and crossbones version of the bear, with the stop being soft slogan as I...
