Re: Packable v Heavyweight Waterproofs
I totally get that they are probably good value when used a lot for a long time, but they are eye-wateringly expensive though aren't they? There's no way I could stretch to that money, or want to either...so assuming if I wanted one for under £100 for instance it would be sacrificing one of packabi...

It's more the membrane being on the outside, and thus in my eyes at least, more susceptible to damage. Pretty much all my jerseys and what not have obvious interactions of spiky, thorny, things on the arms and shoulders...
I will bow to all of your actual experience of it though.

Re: Packable v Heavyweight Waterproofs
I'm put off things like Shakedry (and Outdry to a point), as I can be quite clumsy and have many interactions with brambles, dog roses, blackthorn, etc. I think I'm after something more towards the MT500 bombproof side of things, but with a bit better packability...

Re: New Cycling Uk route
I'd planned on riding The East Anglian Way at the weekend just gone, but injuries from the crash the other week put pay to that. As the ferries don't run over the winter, I'll be looking to do this route at some point over the winter. Having ridden some of the off road, I think I maybe glad of lots ...

This is the bit I mean - https://youtu.be/jn2riSyC9hE I'll be looking at the official GPX with some interest. Assuming this one is an trace of someone's ride, as I can't figure out why you want to loop through King's Lynn like that, nor can I think why you'd want to cycle through Swaffham* when ther...

Interesting... Especially as I've cycled bits of it more than once this year and at least one wee section isn't a ̶c̶y̶c̶l̶i̶s̶t̶'̶s̶ right of way and has private farm access only signs up. Might have to make enquiries.

Re: Packable v Heavyweight Waterproofs
Yeah, I appreciate that Monsieur Sehili is sponsored by them, so that he maybe would take something different if he was paying his own money. I thought it interesting that Josh Ibbett switched from dhb to Albion, and that they do a potential option ; quite spendy, but 100% recycled fibers and an ora...

Packable v Heavyweight Waterproofs
With an eye on the changing of the seasons, I've been looking at getting a proper MTB type waterproof trail jacket. Mostly after my experience on the WRT earlier in the year, when I left my Galibier Tourmalet in the car, not doing that again. The postie turned up yesterday with a package containing ...

Re: The 'why?'
Point of order - there'll be no more YD300, but should hopefully be a NYM300. I've wanted to do the YD300 the last couple of years, but things have conspired. Interested to see what happens next then... We used to run an event that was split into sections and faster riders got longer sections. It m...

I Schnozzel to double up ..... pillow... Mmm.. not quite convinced... tried it and air came out very quickly so was left with a bag of fleeces as a pillow.... guess only needs to stay air 'tight' long enough to act as a pump... obv if you're happy with a bag of clothes then probably fine  . ...

Re: WTD: Exped Schnozzel Pumpbag UL
I have the pump that came with the mat, plus I have a pump pillow; that deflates slowly over a few hours. Looking for a Schnozzel to double up as a dry bag, pump and pillow, would like to pick up an unused / unloved one.

Re: Bivy equipment choices for an uncomfortable night
It's finally time to buy a bivy bag to carry on this years BB200, so I thought it was wise to revisit this thread. I noticed from the recent Sofiane Sehili’s SRMR Winning Set-Up post on bikepacking.com that he used a HPA GrandAir NightOut Bivvy Bag , which appears to be a French made Tyvek bag. It's...

Went out for the forth morning in a row. A beautiful start to the day, if a bit wet with all the dew. https://media.bobarnott.com/gravel/2022-08-31-early.jpeg It was all going swimmingly, until it wasn't. Heading along a byway I've ridden countless time before, I hit a rut, the front wheel snapped t...
