Re: Lachlan Bike Packing the Tour De France

Have you seen the idea of people all over the world riding the last stage of 108.4 km with him (in spirit) on Sunday 18th July, and raising even more money for world bicycle relief? Ideally in sandals of course  Sounds like an excellent idea to me.... Me too. I hadn't, where did you read about...

They say bad news comes in threes, and that's been proven this week, with the trifecta* completed this afternoon. But, since it's CF... The beer man cometh with 2 growlers of my favourite IPA, one of a new NEIPA, and one of a 10% imperial black forest gateau stout - hiding that one from Reg  A...

I am. Well I looked a couple of times yesterday (once at 09.30 to be fair) but didn't seem to be working... and now I've checked in and 2/3rds of the way round  At this rate he'll have finished by the time I next look.

Re: Which waterproof socks?

My Sealskinz are 3 or 4 years old now and I think they might be starting to be slightly less effective than they were when they were new, but they're still worth wearing for me. I will probably replace them like for like once I feel I've got about as much life out of them as possible. They're one of...

I'm in. Good job the traffic slowed the site down... I set a reminder for 11.45, thought about reminding someone else, then promptly forgot about a) that, and b) entering myself, until 12.15 when he reminded me about it  Hope my brain works better at least for some of the ride.

I think Robbie's on the money here (no pun intended, if there even is one). If you've got a nice frame like the Santa Cruz, you don't want to be compromising on the build, and building up yourself, even the small parts for modern high end full suspension bikes are going to rinse you. £20 for a shift...

I have a Moon Comet which I can't fault. Came with band and clip mounts I think. Can't say I've ever had a problem with lights falling off, and I tend to mix and match lights and mounts from different sets because they all seem identical - at least the type with the square bit that slides into a mou...

Re: Klickfix handlebar harness

Can definitely see the advantages, but I would worry about the long-term strength of a rigid plastic bracket on rough terrain. Hopefully that's unfounded and if you keep within the weight limit, which shouldn't be hard, it'll be fine.

1. Is there a power bank that recharges itself very quickly from a mains socket? My smartphone has a fast charge feature, I'm looking for similar in the power bank itself, so it will absorb a decent amount of charge in an hou This is more about the charger than the power bank. Yeah Rich Rothwell confirmed the other day that Alan had DQ'd him, and presumably Mike DeBernardo, who used the bothy too, as he expected. Not sure about Josh Ibbett though - haven't seen anything to suggest that he would be DQ'd for any reason.

I'm a two wheeled tramp - though I thought we were all supposed to be... I'm obviously on the wrong forum - so I used whatever is at hand. Sometimes my arm but that can get slightly uncomfy. I always thought this. Then I bought pillow. Now I don't have to worry about whether I'm "hardcore"...
