Re: BB200 2023

I recall sending a text on a certain event after it had started and then finding a motorhome on a moorland road. And it had a sign saying open to all ***certain event*** riders.

The very large dog outside it must have put them off as nobody else stopped for dinner that night!!!

Re: BB200 2023

9.8km of that section ended up taking my 2h31m. Ok ish pace at first then it looks like a lot of back and forth looking for a way down. I can see where I found it as after that I seem to have been going at a seriously dangerous speed down the last bit. I recall being so pissed off I didn't give a mo...

Re: BB200 2023

Silly rabbits, overthinking it. There will be pain, and it will be character building. Indeed Duncan- I’ve done the first of your sections in reverse ( at night) and it was mostly OK but we’ll be going uphill. Not even been near the other two so no idea what they’re like. The last one has featured ...

Re: BB200 2023

obviously, I probably don't really need to remind anyone but saying that I didn't think I'd have to remind anyone that they can't share kit either. So when you just make the takeaway, sit outside luxuriating in the calories after it shuts, can you give redined_cycles some of your lamb kebab or not ...

Re: BB200 2023

Rich. Why'd you always have to go for the pain option. Why not take it steady and aim at 20H instead of 16. That way you can relax and enjoy the ride (and walk) It's all type 1 fun I can assure you. It's Wales  The quicker it's done, the quicker I can get back to being allowing myself...

Re: BB200 2023

Just called the takeaway (for all of us). But they're closed (on Tuesdays). Where I'm from here in Dewsbury, all the quality takeaways close on Tuesdays for some reason. Another good note is that they actually had an answer phone message explaining they're closed (on Tuesdays). Whoever of the fast ...

Re: BB200 2023

I am ABSOULTELY NOT !!!!! saying this will in anyway be anything other than extremely challenging, but there looks according to OS/OSM/Other mapping and three different aerial sources, to be a reasonable amount of hard surface/road/track on the route. Yes some might be motorway smooth and lots might...

What you need, is one of Stu's Ti-Mag Windshields . Or just eat cold pasties, while pushing up another bastard hill, all night like the rest of us. 😂 Yep I have a very similar one to that. I will have some snacks, but I have found it only takes ten mins stop to start and I can lube chain, check pad...

Re: Hafron Forest Bunkhouse

Toad Hall us ok, a bit basic but the owner is great. We turned up about 7pm, getting dark, with the town full but she did what she could to get us in. We were very grateful to her. If really desperate you could put a mat down beside the old Austin Princess Vanden Plas. Glad to hear it's ok. Looks b...

Re: Hafron Forest Bunkhouse

Got a double room in a place called toad hall in Mac. Looks basic but it has ok reviews. I’ll be arriving late and leaving early so it should do.

If anybody else needs a room they are £28 on booking.com two rooms left.

Hafron used to be about £15-20 but are now £50.

All the local places I have tried including winstanley are £75-£125 for Friday night.

Don’t want to spend that much. Will sort something out.

The above seems to have gone all upmarket now and the prices are accordingly so. Any other budget options in the area that involve a proper bed, as kipping in the car or bivi nearby aren't the best options?
My other option is our friends in Ludlow but that's still a longish drive early in the morning.

Any use?
I do have some if his from a while back, and although they are excellent maps, I prefer the OS colour scheme/font/look to the OSM look. I know that might seem silly, but I find OS maps much easier to read on a smaller screen than OSM ones.

So you don't need to spend 40 minutes watching the video... He recommends a small stove on low and small mug with no lid as the most weight efficient.
