Re: Ham Curious

on the tree straps, should the stitched patten side be against the trunk or facing outwards or is it just a pattern? I wondered if the stitching was to provide extra grip.

Re: Modern Hardtails

I hate to say but owing a road bike, gravel/adventure bike, HT, FS and fatty/xc wheelset. I used to live right on the SDW and the HT was great and would carry BP kit fine and ride all day with no issues. If I had to keep just one it would be the gravel/adventure as it does all things well including ...

Best be quick on this one guys https://singletrackworld.com/advert/ef-education-first-palace-crocs-uk-10-2/ Arse! Far too big for me, really fancied those ones too... I just bought a pair of Crocs the other day, the wife said it was divorce if I ever bought another pair. Temu has some Croc lights, ...

Re: Tyre Patches

Probably will check ( front tyre is pretty close to end of life ) That would be great thanks, just a couple of inches worth of tyre would be great. Not being a total cheapskate, the replacement tyre is £47, compared to the £20 when I bought them three odd months ago. Considering the last couple of ...

Re: Ham Curious

Well the crash test dummy seemed happy with it. Working out how the mossie net is suspended took a bit of chiglish understanding, but then it was fine. I left her in it while I ran back to get a thermarest and a quilt. By the time I got back she was almost asleep. After adding the mat, semi inflated...

Re: Tyre Patches

After another 300km's on it there is the sign of a bulge starting again. It seems fine to ride, I cannot feel it or hear it even on perfect tarmac and it isn't loosing any air. I was thinking about removing the patches from the inside, restitching the flap, stitching in a piece of slick tyre on the ...

Re: Ham Curious

I've not owned a DD hammock for about 15 years but back in the day the tree straps needed a good stretch before use, otherwise you'd slowly get lowered onto the deck during the night, they've probably changed them since but thought I'd mention it Thanks Shewie, that sounds a good idea. Just waiting...

Re: GPS Tracker Thread - Spot Content and In reach

So another update, I don't normally look at my tracks after an event, but this time I checked to make sure the inreach was working ok. I had heard people could see where I was ok, but not my route. This seems to be a Garmin bug in that you can see the route and the current/previous locations fine wh...

Re: Ham Curious

Well it has turned up along with some ali dust caps. I know nothing about hammocks but camping gear I have plenty. Compared to most even my higher end gear the quality looks and feels very good. The hammock has two of the most solid carrabeanes I have ever seen, certainly better than most of my boat...

Re: Audax Tips?

The final Audax for my BB200 prep is tomorrow and its the most local one of the three. It's also the one I have test ridden in the last month as they had published the route. It's about 107km and 900m so not too bad. 9am start and again I have the incentive of the football at 1630, to ensure I try t...

Re: I am weak

Nothing wrong with going smaller. Some people have mocked me for the Alpine gearset I run for hilly places. They might be able to spin faster at the top end, but you will be much more comfortable on a loaded bike on the hills or off road.

Re: GPS Tracker Thread - Spot Content and In reach

Yep if you only use them occasionally like most people, it's a lot cheaper. I have another Audax this Sunday, so I'll activate it for the day, then it will be back on standby till the bb200 weekend.

Re: Ham Curious

It’s on a plane from somewhere to somewhere else I guess. Hopefully the somewhere else is an airport in the Southern end of the UK. It’s due to arrive between tomorrow to Tuesday or I get £5 back. Come to think of it I don’t think it even cost £5 so delivery on Wednesday could produce a hammock and...

Re: Ham Curious

I had DD super light hammock but didn't get on with it, as the blood would run out of my feet and they would go to sleep before I did and that kept me awake. I found company that made a dozen hammocks and closed, they were called Dragon Hammocks from Wales and they made a Lay Flat Hammock, which I ...

Have a look at my spot v inreach post a few weeks ago it tell you how prote works. Very happy with them so far and yearly cost for me is going to be about €65 euros.

Any other questions let me know and I’ll be happy to answer them if I can.

Something is in the way with the evil couriers. Hopefully it’s more hammock than pig products but with Temu, who knows what will actually turn up as it’s the first time I have used them and they seem to be hit or miss according to reviews.

Paracord Supplier

Can anybody recommend a good UK source for 3/4mm paracord in 100m+ rolls that has quick delivery and doesn't charge the earth? I'd rather not get some Chinese rubbish off of Amazon if possible despite it being cheap and next day delivery. I need to weave some nets and ropes for the kayak and sups, a...

Re: Ham Curious

You may know this but if not please make sure you use straps that will spread the load on a tree trunk. Commonly referred to as "tree straps", literally what it says on the tin  The combo of a bodyweighted hammock and the narrow, high strength suspension lines can damage (through com...
