Not used but saved the link for later reference. I just use the standard one currently. Note you also have to buy a bar mount so they're pretty expensive

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank
I think the Etrex will run off an external power source connected to the USB? I'll have to give it a try tonight. That's right, although you're then potentially causing water ingress problems as USB port will have to be open. I just carry spare batteries (and run off high capacity rechargeable ones...

Re: All terrain 700c tyre
Yep. The chalk is the problem. I've spotted Schwalbe Smart Sam TL Ready in 700x35 for less than £20. Not ideal for the road but would give some grip of it's gloopy. I've paired one as a front tyre with a Marathon XR on a 26er for the Carretera Austral in the past and it worked fine. I've done some ...

Deda Parabolica Uno (so J bend) here, angled in at the top is the most natural position for me.

It'll be a fair drive for me, and who knows what tyres I'll end up on.....but the party sounds like it'll make the trip worthwhile anyway! :D

Re: Straightening Mech Hangers, Help Needed.
If you've got a second wheel with a threaded axle, thread it into where the mech would go and use the second wheel as a lever to bend it into line with the one in the bike. It's a hack I use regularly to check mine when servicing it.

I always thought this, until someone posted this a while back: https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s72p595 ... ng-removerPirahna wrote: Spare spokes. A broken spoke can wait until the next bike shop and if I break one on the cassette side I have no way of replacing it.

Re: Medium sized seat bags
I've got the Vortex (bought by mistake as I didn't see the 'compact' part). It's great, waterproof etc - small though. I managed to fit a pair of jeans, t-shirt, arm warmers and a spare base layer in there IIRC. Annoyingly you have to undo both straps to open it, so it's not for stuff you want to be...

Re: ICON rear light?
Got my gf some for commuting, they are very good - bright but diffused so not blinding. The flash patterns are also unique, and the crash alert is peace of mind. Battery life is great. The only downside is the mount system is crap, basically a variety of backs to fit seat post, rack etc and a rubber...

Re: The joy of socks.
Can't find On-One merino socks where I'd usually think to look (Planet X) but from experience of what they do have I'd say avoid the temptingly cheap Planet X merinos as they're very thin, but the Carnacs are certainly good and worth the extra. Haven't tried the Carnac Primaloft Silk ones though, t...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike
Appropriately difficult. I'm not sure I can get round tbh - I'd drop to the 300 but I don't know that that would help! There's the surface element, and the climbing.... on the WRT we averaged under 10 (14 moving), so I'd hope there was a lot more road/fire road than that ride but without knowing th...

I always wanted to dislike them, as from the outside looking in the 'brand'/people who seem to gravitate towards it aren't my cup of tea, but my GF insisted they were the best shorts and bought me some. Luckily for me ( ) I found them almost the least comfortable shorts I'd worn to date (altho...

Re: GPS navigation recommendations?
Etrex will show all of those, and even heart rate (it won't show power as it can't connect to sensor)
You can set up the map screen to show a few fields, and have the rest on another page.
Happy with mine so far!
edit: replying to a few posts up!
