Re: Straightening A Silwing Ridgeline?

I bought 1 years ago in a sale and never used it in anger for that very reason Ray. Loved the shape but really didn't like the dip in the middle so it ended up at the back of the 'might come in handy but probably won't cupboard'. I've been using mine for 5 years or more so I do like it, just...

This might sound odd and like I've finally lost it but maybe have a play with it back to front, ie back becomes the front.
Funny you should day that but I was thinking that very thing just last night in bed. I'm going to have a look at that tomorrow.

Re: Straightening A Silwing Ridgeline?

After doing my chores I went into the garden to play. Unfortunately the results weren't great. Running a line between the poles under the ridge line made little difference. I even tried using a 1.5 mm thick steel cable under there which did improve it slightly but not worth the effort and would prob...

Re: Straightening A Silwing Ridgeline?

Ray, if you move the front pole further from the edge of the bivvy it'll effectively lower the front. Use a longer pole to raise the back and draw the sides down and in. That should lessen the effect of the cat ridgeline and the steeper walls should provide more useable space while still providing ...

Re: Straightening A Silwing Ridgeline?

I don't think you'll have much luck altering it Ray but I always found that a longer rear pole minimises the effect. Well, well, never thought of that and I just so happen to have a longer pole as well. Normally I use it to open up one of the front sides for viewing purposes as in the first picture...

It's light, packs small, roomy and easy to set up yet something has always niggled me about it. The ridge line from pole to pole is not straigh...

Putting up a large poled tent by yourself is a pita. Unfortunately due to health conditions my wife can't always help so I'm thinking this would be much easier.

Family Size Inflatable Tent Recommendations.

I'm looking to replace my family size tent as it's now well past its best. My requirements are- Inflatable, sewn in groundsheet, sleep 4, bedrooms at the back, decent size living area, blackout lining if possible. I've been looking at this but read that water can get in through the roof vents. I can...

Cheaper Version of Titan Ground Anchor.

Stu recently reviewed the Titan Ground Anchor pegs and seemed impressed. I thought I could do with a couple of those but they come in 6 packs for £24. Here's a plastic alternative at £9.99 + p&p for 4.

Stu, any idea what they're like for condensation?

Walking Vs Cycling Uphill.

Some of you may find this of interest. I must admit that I now walk hills far more frequently than I used to especially if I'm bikepacking over longer distances.

Re: Multi-setups for multi-bikes?

In some instances, it would appear that the 'culprit' would actually be much better served by rack and panniers. I couldn't agree more. You see some bike with bags absolutely everywhere yet they are road or gravel riding. They must be highly disciplined at packing as well, either that or they spend...

I bought a used refurbished Lenovo laptop with Intel Pentium 5 from Stone refurb for a £100 to use with a DJ controller and in 18 months have had no problems. In fact I'm very impressed and happy with the purchase.

Only when stuff wears out or on the rare occasions I get a new bike or frame which then needs different stuff to get the fit I like.

I didn't watch it but I did read a rant from I think an MBR journalist about bicycle standards. Problem is they are all modern standards (flared head tube, wide bars, os bars, B...

I've not had Bombay duck in years. Nor me. Apparently they stopped importing it after it failed food hygiene standards, . My uncle introduced it to me 40 or so years ago but probably not had it in the last 30 years. You can get it from specialty importers but it's not cheap (6.99 for 100g!). ...

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I think there will always be dick heads camping around the Pentlands reservoirs as it's so close to Edinburgh and easy to get to. Some of the camping remains I've come across and reported have been truly horrendous.
