Re: Get them hooked young.

Excellent!
Been thinking of getting Alpkit framebags for my two's bikes now they've both swapped onto a bigger bike.
Anyone tried the Alpkit kids sleeping bags?
Should be getting them out properly this spring/summer now they are both old enough for shorter trips :) :)

Re: Cyclocross Recomendations

Don't ask yourself why after half an hour and sick bag on hand at the finish line? ;) EDIT - maybe your not planning on racing Sundays? Mate rides a Cotic X http://www.cotic.co.uk/product/x which looks good - don't think he runs discs (he tells me you shouldn't be braking anyway!) - not sure of cost...

Re: Yorkshire TdF - Bivi 2014

Brilliant Chew... both days looks great for catching a bit of moorland bivi action and some close up TdF too. Yorkshires a bit new to me for riding so your local knowledge is a winner, but sounds like you're dead right with the rough area. We'll have to keep it quiet or the entire tifosi will be the...

I'm still up for this... will have a look at the routes and likely routes/sites although I reckon you'd have much better local knowledge Matt.
Ione - might be bringing my two as well depending on distance etc. so we could let them all loose on the others :)

29er here (didn't make the weekend) and a Revelate Harness... either a long, slimmer dry bag or (my favourite with a tent) is an Alpkit Escape pod http://www.alpkit.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=16574&category_id=250 .... The straps around the bag mean you can really squish the...

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013

Right... I'll have to give this a go this year. Just missed the El'an Back due to work constraints but might have a go at my planned route later this week. How were the tracks? Has it got icy under wheel yet?
If I manage this I'll 2/2  so some catching up to do here! Cheers, Mark

Hi YM.. not spoken to the OH yet but sometime next week or the week after.... weather Wed/Thursday looks good at present. But might be the week after - I can be pretty flexible with days once away from work here. Weather dependant and some company might be nice - not race pace mind ;)

Yetiman... the track SW of Tarrenhendre summit was used in the WRT a couple of years ago (here for a video https://vimeo.com/32699863 of ascent and descent from 2.15). Final push/carry followed by a soggy ride down/along. I've missed this weekend too due to work dragging on but might be out later ne...

by slugwash on Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:52 pm Right, I've now got two of the three maps in front of me so I'll start marking the GRs and plotting the northerly section of the route. Hopefully, Jim, who has the OS200 map, will get to work on the Elan end this evening. Rich... I can't make this weekend due...

Gairy, up in Brittany/Normandie in summer... hopefully taking the boys (5 and 7) for a bike/camping trip on the Nantes/Brest canal for a few days but your link points to some great easy offroad opportunities too in the area we're staying so I can introduce the lads to some nice French VTT. Might be ...

Re: WRT 2013 - what have I missed?

I really liked the fact that the GRs helped in discovering the good local riding in an area I wasn't familiar with previously. Kind of got me out of any comfort zone and felt like a 'treasure' hunt of good riding. I liked the laid back 'challenge' nature of the thing - a re-introduction of something...

Hi Matt, Kevin's right - I have a 3 litre that I really like - 'wing' pockets are great for secure storage of stuff (wallets, cameras etc.) and the net pockets make great rubbish bins for food wrappers. On mine there is a large sleeve pocket down the whole sack that takes a full 2 - 3 litre Camelbak...

Little bit of hike-a-bile too for added fun.
