Re: Hip flask, I need a hip flask...

We'll I picked up a set of bottles as per cheeky monkeys recommendation... (Hey, I've a bottle of Bombay Saph lurking at the back of a cupboard somewhere so the contents will come in useful...).

From my investigations of metal hippers, the volumetric capacity usually ranges between 150-180 ml....

I started at 111kg.

Been getting a reading of 109kg most mornings.

But then I think this is just the 1.5kg increase over festive being temporary...

Re: Hip flask, I need a hip flask...

Thanks for all the responses. It's reminded me the main reason I don't have one is that the metal ones are heavy/cumbersome/pricey(hey, I'm Aberdonian!).... and I'm concerned a plastic bottle/whatever would taint the whisky... Guess I'll try a plastic bottle until such times I happen upon a flask th...

Hip flask, I need a hip flask...

BAM #1 brought to forefront that I am definitely deficient in the hip flask department.

Please recommend me a decent one at a decent price (links would be good).

For single malts, obviously.... :-bd

The implying was the reason I posted this back in the first place. Which irks. Now I'm kinda getting where you're coming from! I'm actually not particularly impressed with ST's (presumably bought) feature with the HT550 explicitly stated. Gives Blackburn a 'hands off' wasn't me guv get out for it a...

BAM#1 - Scottish Highlands Edition. Met up at Bothy Bar in Blair Atholl. Only ScotRoutes showed. We had our tea and a couple of beers then heaeded out into the dark (and light drizzle). We were neither of us in best of healths but we struggled along for the approx 11.7km to the bivi spot, man, that ...

Re: Light duty bikepacking/commuting/pub frame

There looks to be a cotic dealer reasonably close to me so I'll drop over and have a chat with them. I've found Cy/Cotic to be very helpful direct. Either by email or by phone. My mate was after a soul. I started off an email 'conversation ' and my mate picked it up and finished it (ultimately) by ...

Re: Blackburn Rangers - HTR

Nah, we've got a whole secret forum for that. Handshakes, mugs, the lot. On the dark web I hope, wouldn't want the secret getting out... Fancy logo or not you'd need it protecting but it shouldn't be needed here. I get that there are ethics involved (I used to do a bit of climbing and unders...

Garmin Oregon 600 GPS. Finally made a decision. Via decathlon, impressed at delivery time but not at lack of soft padding in the box. No damage apparent on the box, so probably all okay... And thanks to the postie for leaving in my 'safe place' so I don't need to go the the depot tomorrow first thin...

Re: Blackburn Rangers - HTR

Again I appreciate your response, thank you. I guess anybody on the 'outside' looking in sees a bit of 'elitism', and I really don't mean you any disrespect. I just have a different perspective I guess. If I had more 'invested' in it I guess I'd see different too. Maybe I should just shut up, at lea...

Sounds like they didn't get the answer they wanted and went ahead anyway? I thought from Alan's response they were talking about event sponsorship? I'd be interested in clarification/elaboration from the horses mouth...? Definitely a grey area! Being a novice, you guys can come across as being a bi...

I'm prepared to be shot down in flames, I can't really see this having much penetration in the bog bad world. When was the last time you even saw any Blackburn promo stuff (Gregs link is the only time for me). Sounds like as they approached Alan (and I think his non-commercial stance is admirable) t...

Re: Blackburn Rangers - HTR

Are they not advertising for 4 rangers? Just how much damage can they do (assuming all of them turn up)? What more damage than the recent bikepacking.com article (which has kind of inspired me...). Which also pushed a 'take a fortnight' stance. When I say my objective for this year is to ride 550 mi...

I honestly have no idea but estimate it as somewhere between 350 and 700 miles... I can't really remember much about the first 5 months (my folks were ill, it's a bit of a blur). mh: Current - fucking heaps... 111 kg. there I've said. Objective - heaps less. Sub 100kg by the end of May Long term objective to be sub 89 as that is the 'tipping point' where climbing stops being oooof and starts being fun... Thinks scales were broken this morning (or I've gained 1.5kg ove...

Three hours out along the river bank, up to Scolty, round the back to the Shooting Greens and back.

A bit too muddy for 3" WTB tyres on the singletrack I'm afraid. Still, managed to keep upright, which was nice.

Think I'm down to ~£500 a ride so far on the Sherpa

Thanks, that 'article' should help. Lots  I did put a basic frame protection set on when I bought the frame (I had one lying about, as you do...) but obviously it wasn't aimed at bag rub. Never thought that it would be that bad at the head tube. Just as well that there's tamiya model paint tha...

Re: Hogmanay bivy?

As a matter of interest. If you went out say on Dec 31 for a bivi. What do the rules say about this? Is it a December bivi or a January bivi? Well, my reasoning was that the bivi would be more in January than December. If I stayed up to see the NY in then technically it would pretty much all be Jan...
