Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.
As per Scotroutes, 2/2. Responsibility this time was mine. So I had to scope out somehwere which started with a decent pub and finished with a decent sausage/egg/bacon & sausage roll... Oh, and a bit of cycling and a bivy thrown in... https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3669/33084406566_01033b2f...

Re: Games you play in the saddle!
How about thinking of nothing, letting your head empty. And talk to the animals. Mooing at sheep, neighing at cows and baaing at horses keeps my simple mind amused for hours. Enjoy the surroundings - they're part of the reason for the ride. I always say hello to the local inhabitants. It would be r...

Re: BareBones Fatfighters - The weigh in
Apologies, I've been extremely lax over this I'm afraid. I've had, er. Competing interests of late and my mind/focus has been elsewhere. Also, I acquired a new set of scales which read 2.5-3.0 kg higher than my old ones. So, I weighed in at 110.8 on the new ones (108 on the old). With your approval ...

Re: New 29er frame suggestions
Well, I wasn't exactly overjoyed when I found out it was boost (I'd even bought 12x142 converters for my Evo2's in anticipation) and my Sherpa rear is also 142 so neither existing wheel set will work... I've had a while to get used to the idea and the 35mm rims/2.8" rear tyre will reduce the we...

Should be in a position to be able to advise on this in two - three weeks time....How does the rear feel of Solaris vs. Sherpa? Any difference in comfort to be noted?

LW or ULW?Nordisk Telemark 2. Wanted a bigger floor size, smaller packsize and lighter mountain marathon tent. So far fits all the bills.
Looked at them, had finger poised on buy button but decided on a Force 10 at less than half the price. So, footprint or not?

Re: New 29er frame suggestions
How does the rear feel of Solaris vs. Sherpa? Any difference in comfort to be noted? 2.25" Ardents/Arch EX vs 3" Trail Boss/Scraper is apples and oranges so I can't honestly give a meaningful response I'm afraid (never ridden the Sherpa on 29s). 3" more comfort than 2.25" though...

Re: New 29er frame suggestions
Well, I have both a Solaris (mkI) and a Sherpa (new gen). My Solaris is a medium and feels a bit short for long days (saddle position also makes front end light when climbing on the steep). Bottle mount is bang middle of down tube so interferes with a (non full) frame bag. It's built up 29er/100mm R...
