Re: Do we need another gilet order?

Yeah, I'd like a long sleeve (full zip?) and gillet.

Need to check on sizing in whatever size equivalent to an Endura Humvee s/s XL is....

Re: Do we need another gilet order?

Hmm, what about a long sleeve jersey.... ?

Could probably do with a (non-roadie) gillet that fits....

@johnclimber: yeah, my mate gave me one of them. Need to find where I've put it and try it out.

Not sure how it'll fit with the sideswing front mech cable routing...

Ben, whats the seat tube bottle set up? A tie wrap lash up?

I don't see a trowel listed in your packing list- maybe you're hoping to find one on the trail? Well, you know, it's amazing what can suddenly appear at your feet... I have Vee shaped pegs, one of them can double up for them purposes. Oh, and the comment about my bike being on the small side?...

Re: Great, another bags/gear thread ;-)

When you say you're taking too much do you mean you are not using everything you take or do you mean you feel you are taking too much weight? What I really mean is that I don't think I'm really taking a huge excess of stuff, more that everybody else seems to pack it up more discretely.... do...

Re: Great, another bags/gear thread ;-)

@mech/dope: I have asked myself the same question but a) I don't like the idea of brewing up in the kettle and b) I stuff the mug with stuff so only real penalty is the 'hard' shape...

I've thought about the myti mug option, might give it a whirl.

@whitestone: good point! Getting out is the main thing  I have a front accessory pack for the Ortlieb but not used it yet... Need to look at a stem cell at some point. Re: Great, another bags/gear thread ;-)

Well, on previous occasions I'd taken my primaloft jacket (in Oct, Dec, Jan, Feb & April) and not used it. Took a lighter weight jacket last week, needed/used it but felt a bit chilly standing around (there was a wind and we were a bit exposed on a hillside). I definitely use my stove. Every tri...

Re: Great, another bags/gear thread ;-)

I was thinking I could probably manage more in the front pack actually... Which is why I had less in my rucksack on the Sunday (some stuff had 'migrated' to the front... ).

Come to think about all my 'reduced bulk' efforts have led to a smaller front pack size... duh.

Great, another bags/gear thread ;-)

Being the veteran now of over half a dozen overnight bivvying trips I'm still in the thrall of taking too much (or the wrong) sub standard. Last trip (with ScotRoutes and piemonster) saw them sans rucksack but me with. This is partly Cy of Cotics fault (I know, the bastard) as he wouldn't drop the b...

Cotswold outdoors has 20% off tents and sleeping bags and (up to 40% off) Rab stuff (I know we're big Rab fans here.... ). Also spotted are certain Siltarps reduced (2 for £36 in grey and a 1 for £24 in yellow). Just ordered a yellow one.... A good chunk of RRP if you don't mind the colours.....

BAM17 4/4: RP was the Snack Shack in Dalwhinnie. Me and Scotroutes had lunch (piemonster had had home made fish finger rolls... shoulda known right there...). Fuelled up we loaded up and departed along route 7 (adjacent the A9) until we got to Dalnaspidal. https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2823/33116258...

3/3: The Moray Way. Myself, ScotRoutes and my mate David decided to do the the Moray Way. I intend writing it up as it was a mini-epic (day one = 15 hours, day 2 started with me trying to do an impression of Greg Mays chundergnome). Here's a couple photos... https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3805/330096...

A MTB route I used to do BITD was out the along the water of Dye (i.e. continue on from the bothy) until it runs out, hike a bike over the hill to meet the access road for Mount Battock and descend on to the Glen Esk road, on the road to Tarfside then take the Firmounth up to the Fungle turn off, do...

There's the Clachnaben access car park (on the corner) North of Glendye Lodge. Stick clachnaben in bing maps and select OS, it'll show up.. Iirc you can also access from south of the bridge itself (think there's a layby or something nearby, pretty sure I went that way once, oh, 20 years ago....

Nope, i don't mind. The problem with the crop is that it loses the black at the top and that's what makes the photo for me. I wish I'd switched off my head torch though as its illumination of the foreground detracts. if I knew how to use photoshop properly, I'd take that down...). I guess if I cropp...
