Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Re: Should I go to Scotland or Wales?

worth checking trains if you're going solo - I got an Exeter to Euston then Caladonian sleeper to tyndrum return for £147 - booked 6 weeks ahead though. Barry Godin has got a nice scenic video on vimeo of the outer loop

USB cable failure for cache batteries?

Hello everyone. I've been using a rugged zendure battery for charging gps, headtorch etc. The battery itself charges off an sp dynamo via a cycle 2 charge - (as recommended by the community!) Whilst I'm really pleased with this set up the micro usb cable that charges the battery has failed twice, in...

Re: Taking your bike on the train

Definitely book before - we took two bikes, a chariot trailer 6 ortleib panniers ( and a 3yr old) from Exeter to Portsmouth harbour with one change. My partner booked it; I was totally stressed out beforehand, but in reality it was fine including the return trip.

Re: Ultralight Tent Suggestions

I hear the uk supplier of SMD lunar solo had 10 arrive today for them all to be sold immediately, quote: "they flew off the shelf"...No doubt proving their ultra-light characteristic. I missed mine, now have to wait a further 4 weeks

Re: The post man's been ...

Ok, so ive sent the iharborot cache battery back. The USB port was way too flimsy and the power to the GPS kept cutting out bumping down the Teign valley on the edge of Dartmoor ( Not that you need a GPS to find your way down there). Today I received a more expensive Zendure A3 with two ports. The c...

Re: Let's have a chat about knee pain.

In the past I had similar problems but caused by running - resulting in knee and really bad lower back pain. I had some good private osteopath treatment which relieved any spasm or sciatica and worked on breaking down the tightness in my thighs; but the big difference came from using superfeet insol...

Re: Why don't you buy bike magazines?

Sidetracked is worth a look - online and in hard copy 3x year with an emphasis on the written word as well as good photogrpahy. Great for contemplation in the thunderbox; its more about the Journey and Adventure rather than the nik-naks that help/encumber people on their way.

Re: Go Lite Shangri la pole replacement

I haven't looked for it, but I wonder if Mountain Laurel Designs make one to go with their Supermid Nope ... but I believe there's a man in Wales who could make one. I have a Supermid, actually an earlier version, which I pitch with two carbon walking poles attached to each other. It's surpr...

Go Lite Shangri la pole replacement

Hi has anybody replaced the heavy wide dia. Easton pole on a go lite Shangri-La/ hex with a carbon pole or similar? I think the pole has to be 5'3". I am trying to strip down this tent to its possible lightest weight for use in open country. Any link or advice appreciated...

Re: Flat pedal users - A question

Im enjoying using la sportiva anakondas with inov8 debris gaiters (Poor man's version of your photo?) whilst on v12 flats - they've been working well thru the gloop on Dartmoor. Im going to add some seal skin socks to this combination.
