Re: Bear kills cyclist in the US

I was lucky to tour the Great Divide in 2016. I nearly bailed the first night due to bear-fear. I have had plenty of wildlife encounters in the past. eg Lions outside my tent and Elephants 50 metres away in Africa. This was completely different. I cant explain it. A totally irrational fear. I was lu...

Ah bum. Well looks like they have 10 left so might be worth grabbing a pair whilst you see what hubs are around.

Wiggle have WTB i29 rims silly cheap if you have the hubs mate. They actually come up at 580gms each which is ok for an eyleted rim for £23

.... I've swapped notes with Rich at Keep Pedalling (if their wheels are as good as their responsiveness, they will be very good indeed) and have actually gone for Halo Vapour 50s for something different and Hope Pro4s as I'm a maintenance-a-phobe and like the clickety noise to alert wildlife and r...

I have always ended up underwhelmed by bike to work savings. Think can find better value buying second hand, with carefull looking. Especially as market seems to be cooling at the moment.

Re: Converting an old Ti HT to a gravelwanger

Looks good that. Do gravel bikes have to use drop bars? You could ride it as is, or put on some bendy bars like Jones or Ritchey Kyotes for different hand positions, and then ride it for a while to see how you get on with it?

https://rideworks.cc/shop/ebb/ They're not cheap but they really do last. When we switched to these at Shand, the issues around premature bering wear disappeared overnight. I have 3 of these on my bikes right now (2 X Rohloff and 1 SS) and I would pay full price for the Rideworks unit if I need to ...

Re: great looking fatbike frame

Looks really good Matt. Think devil in detail though, note the need for specific Q factor cranks (chainstay clearance?) and couldnt easily see the cost? Looks like a custom sizing in Zona (4130?). Bice do some really nice stuff but need see more detail to compare to custom from Stooge etc
