Re: anyone run any chris king stuff?

Bit like someone endlessly quoting Scottish access rules when access rights in England and Wales are discussed? :-bd

I am happy to continue buying Hope. Personally had no issues with them

Re: ‘Gravel’ bikes?

Sold my Fargo as it sat right between my 29er hardtail and my Camino Ti gravel bike. If doing an off-road ride with road linking prefer hardtail, if doing road ride with off road linking then prefer gravel bike. Obvs.

Would not be without either of them.

Re: E-Bikepacking

I met a guy riding the Great Divide on an e-fatbike which was a proper heavy beast. His knees were shot from carrying clients rucksacks as well as his own whilst running his walking guiding in Tasmania. He planned his day around charging points. He had a couple of hicups where he ran out of charge a...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

the EBB is frozen in place  I had a Puffin frame briefly earlier this year that I bought for some of the parts. The EBB insert was very stuck. I loosened it by removing the screws completely, soaked it in plusgas down the seat tube and down tube and then in each side over a few days. Poored a ...

Re: anyone run any chris king stuff?

Hope are good of course, but I had a couple of shell cracks that ended trips / rides so even though they sorted it on warranty with no issues this meant I swapped to DT. My SS hub has cracked now - 1 down, 1 left. Was offered a discount n a new one as it's had 5yrs use, but though the use was 'good...

Re: anyone run any chris king stuff?

King are one of the few companies that make their own bearings, which are superb. I'd describe them as a bearing company that also do fancy anodised Alu. Had a few King hubs down the years. Lovely kit but I standardised on Hope hubs on all bikes as they last well, adapt to different bikes better tha...

Re: SS Boost Hubs with freewheel thread?

There is a youtube vid somewhere of someone doing the conversion but like you I concluded it's not worth it unless you already had the SS hub. Paul one does look nice but you'd have to factor in £100 for a WI freewheel..... Cheers, just had a look at that (from "Onecogmike"?). He doesnt u...

Re: SS Boost Hubs with freewheel thread?

I had a look at using a Singlespeed Pro4 on my 148 boost frame a while ago. I am pretty certain you could convert a Hope Pro4 SS/T hub to 148 x 12 bolt through quite easily using a Pro4 148 axle HUB1004-10S and the normal X12 end caps. The NDS axle dimensions are identical. The DS are different. You...

Re: Bob Trailer dog bed

I used to trailer my 14kg dog to places when she was too old to travel any distance. I tried a BoB but found it a bit too narrow for her to be comfortable and was worried about stability. A Bob is a fantastic trailer with the load low down but I worried if she sat up the centre of gravity would be t...

Probably not. Deffo Straight pull and not J-bend?

Re: Is a Fargo unique?

I haven’t had mine for long, and I don’t know about unique but I have been impressed with the versatility of it. Second ride out was a 50/50 road/off-road loop of about 80km and I haven’t had anything which I would have rather done that sort of ride on. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/o5cQj98Rw1a...

Re: Is a Fargo unique?

Having owned one of the early Fargo, now have a Singular Gryphon, much nicer for me, higher quality steel and much nicer comfy feel to ride, plus EBB if you did one to singlespeed it. Only issue is no mounts on forks. Seems to be a few Singular frames knocking about, or you can do similar with the ...

Moots, Seven or Bingham (was Kent Eriksen). One of those would do fine. I'll do the rest with bin-liners thanks....

Also had a hard time with the Rooster via Kickstarter years ago, which FLV did too (IIRC). Emotionally / financially scarred  Indeed.. Yep that wait wasnt much fun was it? Re: Is a Fargo unique?

I like the idea of a Fargo too. But the only thing that slightly puts me off is the Alternator dropouts. It seems to make fitting a rack harder unless you use the Salsa racks. And they look like they may creak! If someone knows differently I'd be interested to know. One similar bike with reasonable...
