=SUMIF(D2:D34, "=y", C2:C34) HTH :geek: I knew there would be a neater way thanks :-bd Back to the OP's original question, you should take what you think you need, don't be swayed by the weight of other peoples kit or lack of. A lighter bike might mean they get to the top of a hill first ...

Re: WRT packing
My spreadsheet for my HT550 kit has tabs for each section, with all of my bike-packing kit, with every item weighted, with a column to tick to indicate if it's included, this then automatically adds it to the total for that page and updates the summary page :ugeek: The summary page is in both kg and...

Which Hope hub is the freehub for? If you get someone interested in just the cassette I'd be interested in the freehub.

Re: waterproof trousers ?
Recommendations for lightweight waterproof breathable over trousers accepted! Mine are Alpkit Parallax. I've worn them for about 4 days of riding in total now and seem to be holding up. They are a very lightweight material so I don't know how durable they'd be long term. I wore them on a soaking we...

Re: waterproof trousers ?
I'll take mine if I'm on a multi-day as they keep my legs much warmer in the wet, but I'm a southern softie not a tough northerner like Bob  Once I get really cold legs it takes me ages to warm up again especially if I'm biving. But if I was staying in accommodation I wouldn't bother as you'll...

Cheers Rich, I really enjoyed that :-bd I didn't recognise Fitz at first (sorry Ian) but then he didn't recognise me at first on the BB200  Starting at the top of Wales is the obvious way to run it but having the 3000's on the first day makes for a tough start to the week. When I've been walkin...

Re: Helmet lights with long life
2nd vote for the joystick. I also have a support cell (Exposure's external battery) that I can plug in to double to run time. I think the joystick is the sweet spot of light output v's weight v's run time. Link as requested https://exposurelights.com/products/bike/front-lights/joystick-mk12-black If...

I agree with you Stu, my wife is not so sure. To keep my purchasing under control I 'try' to make sure I've not got more than one un-read lined up next. Trouble is with the suggestion on here it's not always possible to be that restrained. I might need to build a library on the side of the house

I switched from Iphone to Android so could rebuild my Garmin without internet connection using an OTG cable and FTP app from my phone. Used it in anger the day before I started my Great Divide ride when my Garmin froze and required a factory reset to unlock. I have an OTG cable, well an adaptor tha...

Re: The post man's been ...
A Garmin charging/data lead. I've found one which is only 17cm long which saves a bit of weight and is easier to pack. It only weight 8g, the one supplied by Garmin weighs 18g so another 10g saved  I keep a copy of my routes on my google-drive so if there is a problem with the gpx I just need...

Hi Sarah, luckily I spotted your question before I left for work so I have taken a picture which should help http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/Sean_iow/harness_zps5kqrwppe.jpg The straps are not sewn to the flat bit just fed under the webbing which runs across it. The flat bit is 2 layers of ...

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2018
When Alan sent the link to the Bombtrack video a few weeks back he had this to say about it If you've not done the route before please don't get the impression that it's as easy as it looks in this film and definitely don't assume that it's a good idea to turn up on a gravel bike! I think it's proba...

Re: Double ended dry bag - very very dull
Reg, yep 0g is pretty good. In theory as that much of the fabric weighs 0g then any size will also weight 0g, so I need to remake all my kit from it, bivi, tarp, shorts, jersey, jacket, socks etc. etc, all of which will weigh 0g  The fabric is 70g/m2 and the bit I cut out was 110mm x 240mm so ...

Re: Oval Rings and Derailleur Wear
I run an oval on the singlespeed. There is a slight variation in chain tension as the cranks rotate, enough that I have to set the tension in the worst spot, tightest position. I use Absolute Black rings. In theory there should be no tension changes with a elliptical ring? But the ring isn't a perfe...

I thought I'd add these few items here rather than start a new thread, mainly for Reg's amusement at the never ending quest to save a few grams  On a normal bivi, when I take a stove, I take my Silva head torch for camp duties. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/Sean_iow/DSC_6949_zpsofd...

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2018
Iandel should be well ahead of the group start? Assuring he's aiming for an 8 day finish or quicker, and aiming for Fort A for pizza on the first day looks ahead of that schedule, with a 5 day head start on the group start someone would have to go under 3 days to catch him.

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2018
The group start has a 0900 start but if you are ITTing it then I'd set off a bit earlier to give yourself more time. I think it's that "loss" of five hours of daylight that makes day 1 feel hard. I understand the logic there Bob but it shows the mindset of the ITTer. Normal people wouldn'...

I took quite a bit of cash with me, I think £200) £200 :o Does anyone want to buy a kidney, can post or meet up at Tyndrum on 26 May  As you say, a taxi back to the start/train station would cost a fair bit. Can I ask the veterans about money for the cafes/shops. Do they take cards or is cash king in the highlands? I've been saving up my waterproof £5 and £10s ready but no idea how much to take, which obviously depends on how long it takes me to get round and how much I eat  I assume there are ca...
