Re: BB200 Route Details

Stu - Defo a cracking route this year! I echo the sentiments already expressed above about the great balance of trail, gravel, tussock, loose bulls, etc... actually, it could have done with a bit more tussock and fog and steeper climbing, but now I'm just being fussy! :-bd

Good Spar, local shop, Chippy and Cafe in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant folks. Drew Really hope I can make that Chippy! Any idea when it shuts on a Saturday, Drew? Street view says there is another SPAR in Glyn Ceiriog @ ~96k called 'Cross Stores' and I think it shuts at 9pm... anybody know if that's tru...

Re: BB200 'lift corner'

I am most likely driving from near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire on Friday after work. Not sure if I will camp or hotel on Not sure yet if I will drive back Sunday or Monday - depends on when (if) I finish!

Happy to pick someone up / drop off if not to far off the route plan...

WTD: Alpkit Airlok Xtra Dual 13L

Jenny and I are heading on a two week bikepacking trip next Sunday and she could use a larger front bag (currently 8L). Alpkit have been out of stock on this item for over one month. She can probably make do with the 8L by adding some fork storage, but just thought I'd ask here in case someone might...

BB200 gas tank + small frame bag for the missus

We're testing these new bags on a loop around Exmoor this weekend in prep for a longer trip in Spain in September. The BB200 gas tank is helpful in reminding me to be grateful for any ride where I am not hiking through tussocks in the dark. Though this will become contradictory when I head over to L...

Thanks guys,

I've decided to make one from bits I have lying around to get the most capacity out of that tiny triangle!

Cheers,

WTD: Frame bag to fit XS 26" On One Inbred frame

For the missus mountain bike...

I will probably end up doing a MYOG job on this, but just thought I'd check if anyone has a used frame bag they'd like to get rid of. Let me know and I will make you an offer.

It needs to fit an XS 26" On One Inbred frame, so probably a slim chance!

Cheers,
Lars

Re: BB200 Report

Another BB200 report... slightly postponed due to a recent 2 week business trip. It's based on the report I posted here already, plus photos and videos. I've added a video edit to the post from some GoPro footage taken early on. Sadly, no evidence of the tussock hell, as the SD card was full by that...

Re: I f**ked myself on the BB200 badge

I've been out of the country and just got back yesterday to find my envelope with badge still inside. Thanks, Stu!

By stating 'I f**ked myself', the badge also serves as a reminder that although it was Stu that chose the route, we are the silly fools who chose to follow it! :-bd

Re: BB200 Water borne dodgyness

I still have the strange numbness in most of my toes and some of my fingertips. They did get pretty cold, but it just wasn't cold enough for frostbite. It must be something related to over use or something. Dunno... My stomach is still a bit whoozy. I was only able to eat soup on Monday and Tuesday ...

Great idea, I also have a kanga and was trying to solve this problem today and just remembered you posted this. Hope you don't mind if I copy your design. Where did you find the conduit? Is it stiff enough for the light?

Re: 'Why Bikepack' by Salsa

It's a fundamental difference between American and British culture. I grew up in the States, but moved to England in 2002. It took me a while to transition to British humour and culture. Now I look at American humour in a different way (and spell it differently).

Re: 'Why Bikepack' by Salsa

Quite cheesy! I was expecting some sort of punchline at the end and then nothing, it was just sentimental. I guess I expected more wit from Salsa. I think Dave's suggestions would make an ace spoof version!

Re: Not the best BB200 training ride

I had a similar FAIL in Guatemala when my seat post snapped in half (by coincidence, also made by On One). I guess there's not much you can do to prepare for something like that. In my case I think I had probably over tightened my seat post clamp. I had to cycle 20km out of the saddle to the next to...

Re: Ardent or Crossmark?

I put a 2.4" Ardent on the front of my 29er a while ago and noticed great improvement in cornering. I have a 2.2 Highroller on the rear, not really by choice but because I found one in a bargain bin.

+1 for half fat fronty, especially with a few PSI let out...

+1 for the Sinewave Revolution + cache battery to solve the annoying charging beeps and brightness reset on the Edge 800. Also nice to be able to recharge later off the bike when needed.

Carpooling to BB200 anyone?

I am planning to head from Marlow, Buckinghamshire to the BB200 sometime on the Friday. I can borrow a car and carry an extra bike or I can pitch in for petrol for someone. Anyone based near Buckinghamshire heading to the BB200 sometime on the Friday? My time of day is flexible, but I'd prefer if it...

Re: Dynamo hub for 29+

BW - I wrote some posts about the PD-8 with Sinewave Revolution and lights on my blog a while back. I need to add a report on the kLite bikepacker light, which is a big upgrade from my previous lights. I can't comment on how it compares with a Revo light, but others seem to say it's quite competitiv...
