Re: Wide opening bivi bags

Closest so far, although I’ve not managed to get to alpkit to see if they’ll modify. I asked this a few years ago and they said no as too busy. I do however have a largish piece of red Hunka material that they sold me. I was going to get an outdoor equipment repairer to cut up the Hunka and put a zi...

google Dutch M90 NATO issue Olive Green "Gore-tex" Military Bivvy.

Has a top side diagonal opening with studs and velcro that might do.

Re: eBikes for the ladies?

Our lbs has closed and been cleared out apart from an Orbea electric ladies bike in the window for £400 ish. I can get the phone number for the details if you like. Its light admiralty grey in colour and probably a couple of years old as they never reopened after the first lockdown. It might be an O...

Re: Silly wide bars with sweep

Soma Dream Riser is a nice wide swept riser bar - 10mm too short each end :???: https://www.somafab.com/archives/product/dream-riser-handlebar Spendy but worth it for me. Replaced Jones Loops with these and added the CC Bar ends plus a long 145 grip. These are my goldilocks bars replacing Selcof Car...

Re: what wide 29er rim for a stooge mk3?

I use DT Swiss XM481 on a ti 29er Stooge. What size tires fit with that rim? 29x2.4 front and 2.2 rear in the winter slop 29x2.25 both ends dry winter and summer. Got Rebas on the front that a 2.4 tyre clears easily. I wouldn't want to go any larger on the rear. Stooge is the short stay version ver...

Re: Ordering from the EU - thoughts?

Apparently the courier returned later and left the item with photographic evidence of delivery This is something that has been puzzling me for a while. It's not "evidence of delivery", but it is "evidence that couriers are so overworked that they can't even wait for the homeowner to ...

Re: Ordering from the EU - thoughts?

And another thing - anecdotal - from the gruniad problem help page. Somebody ordered something from somewhere in Europe and when it was delivered the courier asked for duty plus vat plus collection fee as you would expect. However the person decided that it was too much so declined to accept the ite...

Re: Ordering from the EU - thoughts?

I think it's Price paid + customs charge + shipping Then 20% vat on that lot. It is definitely not price paid it is price registered. Mrs M bought some stuff from Holland on a half price offer so she bought two. The charges at our door were for registered full price x 2. I believe that a whole new ...

Re: General use magnifier.

Op a soldering one would work for you as well
I need to use it in lots of different situations from up a ladder trying to get the screws back in a bulkhead light or in the garden raking out hair like roots of Bonsai Azalea as well as fixing things round the house.

General use magnifier.

Any recommendations for general use hands free magnifiers with led lighting? My eyes are now rubbish for close up work and Varifocals don’t help as I have to lean my head back to try and get close enough to what I am trying to do. I have seen a few on the interweb and read reviews but nothing like o...

Re: Buying from the states - taxes and fees

In the past eighteen months I bought a guitar and a motorcycle direct from the states. The guitar was airfreight the motorcycle was by sea. The guitar took a week the motorcycle took four months. Price gouging by FedEx for airfreight plus the import charges meant that it was cheaper to import the mo...

This is my current bar Soma Riser compared to the Jones using the comparison site. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51420060456_5c4a6e06d3_c.jpg Untitled by michaelwex10 , on Flickr It only shows bars in 2D so you don't see the rise in comparison. I always find a trip to Halfords can prove worthwhile. I have a pair of their thin fleece gloves that are my cold weather go to gloves. They are not screen sensitive and not windproof but ideal for what I need and cost less than a tenner. If you must go technical have a look at work gloves. There ar...

Re: TRP Spyke Brakes Question

This does not really answer your question as I bought some 'nearly new' ones. These had been fitted but found wanting. They came with the original packaging which did not include any spacer. When fitted onto a Reba fork with a 160mm disc the caliper hit the spokes so had to buy a spacer and 180mm di...
