Re: Todays ride

Halfway through my 2nd weeks holiday I took a Fat Bike spin down to the coast and a beach ride home.
It started in fog and soon the sun came out to burn off the morning dampness.

Re: Why rigid?

When bike packing you tend to spend a lot more time with your bike rather than a full susser at a train centre, because of this you tend to "live" with it and rest/stop more so I find there is more risk of scratching the stanchions with the stop starting, gate opening, Throwing bikes with ...

Re: The post man's been ...

John have you ever tried to fit your tri-bars to them? I was considering a set of tri-bars for those long boring road straights when touring but the bulge on the digest bars seems very narrow. No, but I have them on my Jones bars on my Angus 29er+ and they have a similar step down which I've shimme...

Stuart has a set that he's already testing and JohnClimber appears to be the only person who's ever taken a photo of some actually on a bike! Ok I can take a hint, but I'll keep the photos small so you can click on them to see them if you want to look in detail https://farm1.staticflickr.com...

Never had a problem like that in my Borah bivi bag but it does have a large midge nettting area to help it breath.
Could you have had it closed around your face too much?

Autumn's great if you're not working and can ride in the good weather and in the daylight, but late Spring is my favourite time of the year

Packraft Yukon hire/loan/borrow?

Long shot, I don't want to spend £1000 and only use it the once but has anyone got a Packraft Yukon laying around that I can hire/loan/borrow/sell to me please?

Nice try Ray. Although I like riding against others for shorter times (the Mary Towneley Loop this weekend) I really think ITT's with group starts would really mess with my mind. I'd forget about the I (Individual) part of it and hear the race jungle drums going and like you I'd worry about being ca...

I arrived there about 8pm Saturday June 12st (mid summers night) there was no one around but with very little wind the midges were unbearable, so I ...

I've ran 29er+ Knards and Chronicles on 45mm and now 52mm rims and I wouldn't think about running them even on a 35mm rim which I have on another bike.

I rode it North to South this summer during my loop of Northumberland and really enjoyed it apart from the pedalling downhill into the rain and head wind parts. You're right about the gate and I skipped a section that ran next to a quiet road, as I was fed up with then and the cow a& shee...
