Re: help me find my Garmin maps - please!

It is an unlocked copy of the OS 1-50 purchased through Amazon (I think?) so not a genuine card. If the SD card is mounted to a computer the maps show correctly in Basecamp ? yes No GPS connected to the computer. No With BC open and showing the map, remove the SD card. Does the map disappear? Yes M...

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

Other GPS settings (these are possibly specific to the Oregon and similar): have two fields for time, one is stopped time and one is moving time - obviously the stopped time should be as low as possible. I also have fields for overall and moving speed, I try and keep these as close as possible. Als...

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

Can I ask a question? The thing that causes the most faffage for me is fiddling about with my garmin screen, trying to see the route, when the path isn't obvious. How do you deal with the oft mentioned tussocky bog sections? Do you have the screen zoomed out a bit and just head in roughly the right...

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

My thoughts on a badge. Some overkill, some not. As mentioned, moving average speed 200km divided by 24hrs equals 8.33kph I have used 10 in the past for a bit of safety margin. On one’s GPS turn off auto pause Start at 8am; makes the finish time easy to figure. Have an idea where will get on-route f...

Re: Garmin Solar

It seems Garmin have moved so far from the original, and imo, most important principle of what a GPS should do i.e tell you where you are and where you need to go.... A hiking GPS does as you wish. On the flip side, the strava-sportive-rider-type has (likely) driven the market need for better batter...

I know Somewhat off topic However, would rather to sell to someone I kind of know than eBay. Having a clear out following moving down south. Have two Sonos Play5:Gen5 for sale. Both are white (with a black grill) One is brand new, never used, still in a sealed box Other is used in as new condition W...

Re: North Lakes Spring Break - 19-20th March

Planning a 'South Lakes Spring Break', probably 25-26 March, probably with more 'gravel bikeable' options and definitely accessible by train. Will post details once it's dark and cold and it's nice to put some dates on a calendar. I’d like to return. Less stuff next time. And hopefully less tired.

Re: Yet another 'Divide'.

…. I feel there is more kudos to be gained for doing an ITT in last place, when everyone else has gone home…. Indeed. First time riding the YD300 was the last finisher. As I said to myself, yes, I was last, but I finished. And everyone had indeed gone home. But, had the smug satisfaction in knowing...

Audaxer looking at sportives. I don't get the price of sportives, never have. Nor do I get the price of paid self supported events Baffles me. Indeed Charge for the GPX, which changes every year. Seems to be a lot of grumpy sniffiness about this event I don't have a problem with it, I'm not the target market but I can see it appealing to many, entry fee isn't that high and compared to many sportives is probably cheap interesting, why are "we" grumpy about this? a discussion in its...

Nice the organisers will take a bag from the start to end; makes me suspect many of us are not the target market.

Re: 2 person tent recommendations

New, both are out of budget. So would have to be eBay or similar. For small pack size, lightweight consider a Terra Nova Solar Photon 2 For more robust, more internal space, but heavier and larger pack size MSR Accent 2 D and I use these depending on likely conditions. SP2 is a squeeze, but liveable...
