Re: Various road tyres

Yep. American. Which means because they are road tyres, you have to ride on the right side of the road. So the wrong side of the road. And I think you need to mount them backwards as well. Something to do with gravity and the Earth's axis. Or something.

Re: Various road tyres

I believw there is 5 tires that are with plenty miles remaining alltogether and 2 of them should be Schwlabe Pro One yes... then 3 single gp 4 seasons I believe there is... 5 tires. 15£ each. Apologies for the 'not so clear' post... I have a valid excuse Mate, this makes no sense. Selling stuff on ...

I sit mine on a square of folded aluminium foil. I think there are four or five layers of it. It definitely makes a difference in my mind.

Re: Meths - again

It may have been that the meths wasn't warm enough to give off vapours to ignite until you held the lighter to it for a while. Happens to me all the time because I forget to put my meths in my coat to warm it up. I stick a dry twig into meths and use that as a wick instead of risking my fingers on a...

Of rivnuts and Bow Ties and straps ...

I finally found the time this evening to drill a few holes in the underside of my Fatty's down tube, whack some rivnuts in and attach the Bow Ties delivered by His Regal Stuness earlier this week. Doddle. Marked up the holes with a bottle cage, drilled some pilots and then the holes for the rivnuts....

Re: The post man's been ...

A 750ml Ti water bottle which is now my water bottle and cooking pot combined. Stu, very interested in this approach and I have questions: Is that the Tomshoo one? Ive got one of their ti mugs and they're light, cheap and strong. Good gear. Does it have a flat bottom? Presume it must or it wouldn't...

Leighton Buzzard railway station
Sounds like a plan. What time's good? Early afternoon maybe? Probably prefer a bivvi with a beer rather than the other way round.

Re: Chilterns Spring Thing Sat 23 March

Pete, that'd be super. Been way too long - a year come to think of it. I'm happy to come up your way and could do with getting out of my locale. Name the station and time and I'll meet you there. And if you can come up with a sub-20 mile route to a pub near the perfect bivvi spot, that would be even...

Re: PSA Do your pants keep slipping down

To be fair, it’s a really nice belt, not a bad price and I quite like the idea of the magnetic buckle and one handed operation, leaving my other hand free to continue to stare gormlessly at my phone while I’m “splashing the boots”, as they say. Not sure about the 50kg limit. My gullet, after a prope...

Re: Chilterns Spring Thing Sat 23 March

Right, so none of the irregulars can make it. Anyone else? Only two weeks away. I am going to give this whole TLS concept a go. No chairs. One small cup and stove. No spare clothes. No spare booze. Only one way of staring a fire*. All that will mean I will be miserable and probably moan endlessly, m...

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread

Back at the tail end of the Dachshund of Time (see below) when I would call myself a touring cyclist, I'd commonly be lugging a heavy bike, four panniers, handlebar bag and a 3kg tent on top of the rack. I'd have clothes for at least three days, including some shoes and pair of jeans, and all the od...

You and your chair, heh heh  Cheers Reg. For some reason (probably laziness) I left it out in the rain after going to bed. Not a big issue, as it's not made of tissue paper. In fact, the chair had collected about 400ml of rain water by the time I emptied it out, which would have come in hand...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

March done and dusted and that's 3/3 for 2019. Ignoring the weather warnings, I packed my bike and rode over to Lotts Wood for our Saturday GoRide coaching session. For shelter, in my backpack was my son's MSR Elixir 2 - a big dual skinned tent that I knew would stand up to the expected wind and rai...

Thanks but as above a mate supplied one. So we're all good. Or we would have been had I thought after fitting it that it might be a good idea to re-adjust the limit screws before heading out for four hours of coaching, a 10 mile ride to a bivvy spot and an overnight in the woods. Doh.

Re: C'mon Wales !!!

Wales deserved the win and on to next week for the Grand Slam. Maybe. I think Scotland wanted it more in the 2nd half, but they just don't know how to win. Wales on the other hand, don't know how to lose. Lately, anyway. 13 wins in a row I think the BBC just said.
