Just wondering if anyone has tried this, or uses some or has any other general thoughts or suggestions ?

Kiddie bike trailer wheels needed

I have been given a kids trailer to take my elderly Border Collie out in :-bd Problem is, it only has 1 wheel  I would like to get a pair of wheels preferably. Current one is 16" and has a 4" axle held on with cotter pin. If I could get a pair of these would be great. Also considere...

Morocco for Christmas?

So I have flights with bike to Marrakech over Christmas. Looking at having a super chilled trip to the east, Demnate, Aït Blel to Aït Bougomez and on round to Bin el Ouidane. Bit concerned about December weather, any advice or comments? And if we don't do that other suggestions? It will be fi...

Re: Maps for phone

I have gone for the OS app. They had a special £4 for the month. Got all I needed downloaded really easily. Works with Wi-Fi n data switches off and still there after a restart. (Back country did none of those!) Fingers crossed for next week.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.

Re: Packing - what do you put where?

My stem cells are home made  and dont fit the myti mug :???:

I think a lot of awkward stuff is going to get put into bar roll, in amongst tent and warm/spare clothes.

Might investigate a bottle cage under the frame for tools etc in an old water bottle.

Re: Packing - what do you put where?

Looking thru this as trying to pack for my trip [2 weeks in Somerset/Cornwall] and struggling to fit stuff into bike bags and not take panniers. Am I just being silly and should just chill and use panniers ? I am really not taking a 'lot' of stuff, big fan of TLS.... Where do you carry Myti mug [650...

Maps for phone

I am about to set of to Somerset/Cornwall for a couple of weeks on the Ogre. Riding some Sustrans and some off road trails, very low key and easy paced. Looking for any recommendations for electronic mapping aps. I was going to use Backcountry navigator as it has been recommended but found it really...

Re: Somerset and Cornwall ideas ?

Thanks for that, fits in perfectly with some of the trails I have found to go through Exmoor. A nice campsite and shower occasionally will be great.

Just started fettling with bike and gear, trial packing etc.... :-bd

I teach Forest Schools at a Specialist school for Autistic kids. It is amazing how few have such opportunities and a privileged to be able to facilitate it. Oh and its great to be paid for playing in the dirt ! The benefits for the kids, of all abilities, are immense and immeasurable. IT is why we s...

Somerset and Cornwall ideas ?

I am doing a solo trip next month that will [roughly] start near Stonehenge and finish up at the Eden Project. Got a couple of weeks and no real agenda. I have picked out a few trails I want to ride; Tarka, Camel, Galaxy, some Sustrans stuff etc and things I want to see, mostly cider orchards :???: ...

Re: Drivetrain; 1x or compact double ?

Thanks everyone for the input. :-bd :-bd :-bd I was leaning heavily towards the 1x, but having counted teeth and done the maths the double wins it to get the range. I am hoping to get a 36-22 double and probably 10speed 11-36 cassette. Let the bike shop work out all the compatibility stuff ! That wi...

Re: Drivetrain; 1x or compact double ?

Just found my notes from the shop; 32T 11-42 although could get 11-46. All a bit double speak to me, does it sound low, like lots-of-Grannies low ?

Re: Admitting in public to going bikepacking.....

A bike ride, is about all I say.

But I work with about 60+ women and most staff room conversations center on Love Island and nail polish. Although none of my male colleagues would ride either.

Climbing friends are much more into the idea.

Re: Drivetrain; 1x or compact double ?

Thanks. They ran the maths at the bike shop, lower gears still came up about the same with both options. Price wasnt significantly different; 280 vs 310 I think. Its all sticker shock at that point. I am more concerned about durability and robustness I think. Good point about bike shop selling what ...

Thanks Whitestone. Can I ask why ?

I'm certainly not looking for or worrying about trend [whatever that currently is, no clue] just practical and cost effective function.

I am sure this has been discussed, but not been on for a bit..... :ugeek: I have had my Surly Ogre for a year now and took her into the shop today as mech was impossible to adjust and I was loosing the will to live. Drive and all other components on her are 6+ years old and well used off my old bike...

First time in hammock. Any advice or tips please.

A friend is taking me out to try out a hammock in a couple of days. Just wondering what I need to take etc. Red wine is top of the list. down bag, should I take a small thermo rest to insulate underneath me? Taking a full mat and bivi in case I don't get on, or in, the thing. :o Any recommend...

Consider what is available where you are going ? Managed on that trip with small contained camp fires. Going to try meths f...
