Re: Are you a hoarder?
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like a good innings well-filled. Have cleared out both Mum (moved to a home) and Dad's (died) places over the last few years. A funny old experience with a fair bit of bitter-sweet. Clearing out the uncle-in-law who was definitely a hoarder and very strange chap at times ...

Re: New long distance Cycle UK route in Wales - Traws Eryri
I suspect the combination of things required to generate excitement in you is very specific, unique, entirely personal and quite probably a wee bit oddI'm in no way saying it's negative, simply that I don't quite understand the degree of excitement these routes seem to generate.

Re: Which 2nd hand bike computer?
Dakota and Etrex get my vote. Used for walking, paddling and biking. Bit clunky and fuzzy compared to a smartphone but if I go out phone tends to be off / airplane and used for specific things (internet access, camera, comm's) whilst the Garmins do the nav and map work. I'm sure dedicated bike ones ...

Re: New long distance Cycle UK route in Wales - Traws Eryri
I kind of don't the 'excitement'. There's nothing new, no one has built trails or even cleared old ones. Everything was there before and it was simply a case of joining the dots - something which anyone could have (and has on numerous occasions) done before. Is it a 'new' route or just a well publi...

In amongst all the marketing sh1te FB throws at me there is occasionally something that makes me smile and so I present to you all something that, on the face of it, seems utterly useless - the LOCAKABLE DRYBAG  Shirley about as useful as a chocolate teapot? https://crocpak.com/cdn/shop/produ...

Grauniad was a bit sniffy in their review of it (contrasting the skilled US participants in their local series with the unskilled/ "townies" of the UK version). Like any opinion piece and the G especially (maybe) a pinch of salt is always worthwhile

Re: Accuracy of elevation given in OS Maps app
GPS altitude is the (potentially) least accurate part of the system. Typically the error in altitude is up to three times that for longitude and latitude. It's just down to how GPS works. You need at least four satellites to get altitude data and ideally one of those is close to overhead to get goo...

Many ways to skin a cat! Stu's already mentioned whether you are set on a "proper", inner&outer tent. If you aren't (there are several + and - to the option) then maybe a Six Moon Designs Deschutes (shaped tarp): https://www.sixmoondesigns.com/cdn/shop/products/Deschutes_Green_OpenDoor...

White   Still, eye of the beholder and all that. 210 floor makes me twitchy given most use 420 or 840. Recent experience with the Anfibio has made me nervous and that was 410, I think. IIRC the latest 2k has an uprated floor of 840. The 2k also has a deck, which you know I'm a fan of, whic...

Is there another potential level of appeal after this and if so has a right been granted to do so? Might not be over yet though I'm very pleased to see the latest outcome (also lead article on Guardian's website).
