Re: Bivvy a Month 2016.

Hi Reg, good to see you got a decent trip out. No rain this time?
Apologies about Snowdon, we'll have to reconvene at some point - I was looking forward to going up there again.

Re: Flats or spd's?

I asked the same question a little while ago, having been a strict clipless user for many years. As a result of that I bought a pair of Saint flat pedals to give them a try. I've used them twice - a short try out ride and an overnight trip in Wales. To be honest I didn't really get on with them. It ...

Re: Smallest tyre on a stans Flow

I'm using 19mm internal rims on two bikes, they're happy down to 25mm with Conti Gatorskins, but with tubes. 32s should be fine I would've thought.

Re: Rims, a little help if you please....

http://www.velocityusa.com/product/rims ... unt-ss-622 I had in mind the Blunt 35s - sorry, wasn't clear on that, it's 30mm internal width. Both myself and Greg had Blunt SS rims for the TD this year. No problems and 2.4 X Kings go up tubeless nicely on them That's about as good a recommendation as...

Rims, a little help if you please....

Now then, I find myself in slightly unfamiliar territory. All of my offroad cycling in various forms has been on rims up to a maximum of probably 17-19mm maximum. This has been on tyres previously up to 2.0 in wide, and with a bit of pressure in them they've been fine. I'm now up to 2.4 (Conti X Kin...

Re: SP Dynamo issues

I'm sure I read that there's two slightly different types of these, with different seals for the bearings? Or is it just down to QA procedures being a bit lax. It's normal that those with failures will be vocal, but there does seem to be quite a few on here (although I'm sure a small percentage of t...

Re: Riding Bromsgrove to Dover

Don't laugh! I'd start with Sustrans NCN 5 and base a route on that. It runs through Bromsgrove and on down to Reading. Can't speak for very far further south but it uses some good lanes near us. Worth a look maybe.

Reg, reading the text you sent last night, I'd say sobering is very much what was needed!
At least it was drier than the night at Eyam, we really can drop and sleep almost anywhere. Excellent.

I have both LX (rim brake) and XT (disc brake) hubs. Both have been utterly faultless. I'd not hesitate to have another.

Re: Tour Divide Musings

Looking at these threads, there's been lots said on both the kit and the physical aspect of the race; not so much on the mental aspect. We've all done rides or races when everything's turning to sub standard, but we carry on. For whatever reason. That's ok on a 1 day ride, we can see the end. It's o...

I remember our "hotel & wives" chat Pickers I didn't think you'd bring that up here  Anyway, we quoted for some work for Travelodge. They said they had to upgrade the ventilation because the rooms no longer had opening windows...... They didn't say why but, you know, piecing thi...

Re: Mini trip report: bikepacking for beginners on a budget

Lucky buggers!! Actually I don't know, maybe I'm the lucky one..... There's not a cat in hell's chance of getting my wife to camp in a tent... bivvying therefore is just not going to happen. At all. Ever. If I want a day or so of peace and quiet though I only have to start the B-word and I know what...

Ooh ta, I'd seen that Reveal the Path was on, but not the others. Sky+ duly set, except I can't see the Yukon one either - anyone shed any light on when that's on or have we missed it?

Been busy this month.....

Like Dr Nick, a set of black Jones loop bars, but not with the grips.
A Wildcat Tomcat bag to fit into said Jones bars
And finally a Synmat 7 mat to replace my venerable Thermarest which has gone onto Steve Large of these here parts.

FS - Thermarest mat - Now sold

I have a nice shiny new mat upon which to park myself, my Thermarest self inflating mat is now surplus to requirements. It's a Prolite 3 in size small (which means it's about 4' long). It has served me well, is in reasonably clean condition as it has normally been used inside either a tent or a bivi...

Are the ESI grips the longer ones to suit the Jones bars? If they are I'll take them off your hands if I may.

Also depends if solo or in a group. I'll straight away admit to being the person who won't ride with people who faff a lot - you know, the people who turn up with a half built bike that'll "only take a few mins while I install the new headset" before the ride we've arranged to go on a mon...

For my tuppence worth, I'm going to sit a with a foot in each camp. My day to day work involves deadlines, routines and all...
