Water Filter

I was in Go Outdoors the other day and saw a water filter bottle thing called 'Water to Go'. A search on the internet and it's got excellent reviews everywhere. Anyone heard of these or used one? I think I'll be buying one soon. http://www.ukpreppersguide.co.uk/best-water-filter-bottle-water-to-go/ ...

Re: Crest ZTR Tubeless

Yes, my rims came already taped with yellow Stans tape. I'm going to try going tubeless and see how that goes. What's other people's opinions of tubeless setups? Advantages etc.

Crest ZTR Tubeless

I've just been getting some new Stans Crest ZTR 29er wheels and have had a hell of a job trying to get tyres on. Continental Race Kings and Schwalbe Rocket Ron's were a huge struggle. I was trying them with an inner tube so think that may be the problem. They go on tubeless ok, but if I have problem...

Re: to carry a backpack or not

I find if the pack is too heavy you fatigue a lot quicker and you can get saddle sore quicker due to more weight pressing down. These days I try to keep the weight on my back to a minimum so long rides are a lot more comfortable. I use a Deuter Speedlite 15 which is around 300g and only put lighter ...

Re: route planning

Anyone use www.outdoorsgps.com? It's about £4 for a year with unlimited use of maps. Landranger and Explorer levels available. You can use it with your smart phone too if you want to work on routes away from the computer.

What's the weight of the carbon poles? Are they much lighter than the aluminium ones?

Stans ZTR Crest Rims

Anyone use these rims in their wheels. I've heard they are very light but have a rider weight limit of 190 lbs. I'm under that weight but how do they hold up to bikepacking with all the extra kit etc?

Alpkit Frame Bag

I'm just to about to order an Alpkit frame bag. Is there and difference between the webbing ladder attachment and the traditional sewn in velcro loops. I'm not sure which to order. Also any advice on bag width 4,5 or 6cm. Thanks,

Re: iteresting mapping resource

I've used quite a few including bikehike, they all do roughly the same job. A recent one I found is called www.outdoorsgps.com, I've been quite impressed with it. You can plot routes using ordnance survey maps down to Explorer level, save and print routes. You can also download the app on your phone...

Any recommendations for bike bags or bike boxes that fit a 29er? All the ones I've looked at are only big enough for a road bike or a 26er.

Re: Winter Waterproof Cycling Jacket?

I've had an Endura Stealth for the past 3 years and used it in really poor weather. Out of all the jackets I've had over the years this has been the best in terms of waterproof, windproof and keeping me warm. On most occasions even in the winter I don't even bother with a mid layer. Just make sure y...

Re: Solar Storm Run Time?

The batteries supplied as standard with the Solarstorm are well known to be rubbish. You may have to fork out for a decent battery. Have a look at 'torchys' batteries on ebay or mtbbatteries. Both these sellers have a good reputation for the quality of their batteries and lights. http://www.ebay.co....

Exped Synmat UL7 or Neoair X-Lite

I'm looking to buy a new sleeping mat but can't decide between these two. I'm leaning towards the Neoair as it's lighter and packs smaller. What's everyone's views on these mats? What are the pros and cons of each?

I got an Altura Pocket Rocket from ebay for £35 brand new. It packs down very small (tennis ball size), is around 110g and is totally waterproof. I'm quite impressed with it.
