I also intend to drink/eat/blag as much food as I can :)

I will be riding down from Manchester area after getting back from Chamonix that morning. I intend to be rather tired, and possibly a little thirsty. A dangerous thing in an Irishman.

Either give Shona in Keep Pedalling a call: http://www.keeppedalling.co.uk/

or Charlie: http://www.charliethebikemonger.com/

Support your bike shops, or lose them.

Re: Bikepacking Gourmet (show me your recipes)

I think my most famous meal has been two cans of Coke, a 500g tub of Ben and Jerries Pish Food, a 250g block of cheese and four cheap white bread rolls. I am lactose intolerant. It was during the HTR and I was bonking rather spectacularly. My body gave me a hug and used all the fuel it could without...

Re: New Stooge

Sure, bad choice in words. The original design was not capable of taking wider tyres due to the chainstay design being spaced for 2.3 tyres max (yes you can get a 2.4 Butcher in, but it's tight, and carp in mud). Also, with a "narrow" 2.3 even at low pressure the steel the frame is made fr...

Interesting, so they have fixed the main issue with it - the spacing on the rear tyre. Good.

Re: TMB in September

So, I'm going to be in the Valley from the 11th of Sept - 24th. First week will mostly be road riding and trail running up high with the wife. Second week, she is in taper mode for a race and I am free to do what I want - within legal reason. I think I'll aim to do some, or all of the route if weath...

Re: How's your BB200 prep' going?

i'm mostly going to eat pies and not worry about it. promises, promises. It was a drinking challenge prior to the YD300  My prep is going well currently but I think the exertions of Rays Borders 350 (which is imperial and actually 540km!) may interfere with my training! Sat on couch after cur...

Really quite happy that is a medium so I won't buy it. Ace bikes.

Sort out white balance on those images to show the bike off properly too!

Re: salsa spearfish. big difference between 2013 and 2014 fr

Split Pivot came in on the 2014 frames - massive difference to how the frame reacts under pedalling and while descending. I have had both. I'd not go back to the non Split Pivot.

Not any bike will manage the CTR .... it's quite brutally hard on bikes. Which is why most "fast" people move from rigid to full sus for it.

They are quite boxy, very MaXXIs like - not a massive fan of them, but when the pressure is low they work well.

Re: 27.5+ Spearfish

Trailblazers, and pretty much any modern WTB tyre really, go up real easy tubeless. Similar to Saguaros in that they have a nice tough sidewall and the bead is thick enough that it helps. Did the first ride on the Spearfish+ at the weekend. Need to get the suspension dialled in a bit but it works we...

I've also run these in a 650b Pike in the gloop with no issue of build up...in gritty mud.

Front rim is a scrapper - rear is a KOM i25 Clearance front on a 29er fork - similar to a 2.3 Saguaro: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/552/20195773882_4d6fd16d0b_c.jpg 650+ Spearfish by Greg.May , on Flickr Clearance on rear - less than the normal 2.1 Nanoraptor, but pretty good still: https://farm1....
