Re: What you done t' your bike today

Tyres and chain finally arrived for the Rocky Road. Converted to tubeless and swapped out the shifty SX bits for some old 10s XTR. Different stem and bars to make it fit a bit better, then took it for a 2 hour test ride. Seems nice enough! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51690021086_3a98acace7_...

Re: Redshift drop grips compatibility

^When I measured 90cm from the end of the bar as per the online fitting instructions, the bend is barely noticeable so should be OK. Ordered with my other halves Prime account so should find out tomorrow

Re: Redshift drop grips compatibility

@lune ranger - thanks, good point re: bar diameter. Do you think they'd fit on drop bars with a bit of bend at the ends? The Beacons have a slight curve (so not like the "wiggle" on the Venturemax), so presumably if there's enough give in the material they might fit, or do you reckon they'...

Redshift drop grips compatibility

Image
Anyone put these Redshift drop grips on Ritchey Beacon bars or similar (the drops are more curved than the Redshift Kitchen Sink bars by the look of it)?. And whilst I'm at it, reckon these might work on loop bars ala Jones or Geoffs?

^Glad it helped  . I found another GuyKesTV review some months ago: https://youtu.be/7gA3g24zdCk It kind of covered the Silk Road and Rocky Road. Re: Bargain Alert Thread

PX doing 25% off their Ti Rocky Road rigid 29er (£1,039), and the GX Titus version (£1,799). Both decent alternatives to the likes of the Bombtrack Beyond +, though not quite as much clearance on the back (good for 2.6 though). Not XD wheelsets either which might limit cassette choices, but still....

Re: Getting an easier gear - SX Eagle cassette, non XD wheelset...

Thanks all. I put a AB 38t oval direct mount on my Rival 1x on my other bike to replace a standard 40t and like it, so reckon I'll go a similar way with the Silk Road. If I'm 32t currently I'm thinking 30t oval...? I'm pretty happy with the 1x, but guess main requirement is getting a lower gear for ...

Re: Getting an easier gear - SX Eagle cassette, non XD wheelset...

The 10-52 GX cassette is a bit more spendy than £200 on its own TBF, but I think XD also gives you a 10t as well as the option of going up to 52t - I reckon I'd get a fair bit of use from the 10t on the flat. AB oval was about £60 i think, but appreciate still definitely cheaper than the cassette. W...

Getting an easier gear - SX Eagle cassette, non XD wheelset...

Just realised I'd missed the fact my GX equipped Titus Silk Road actually came with a 12sp NX 11-50 cassette on a Shimano freehub. Wheels are Alex Rim CXR30 with (I think) Formula hubs. Had thought it was XD... Want an easier gear for when fully loaded, so was actively considering pre-ordering a GX ...
