Re: Trans Cambrian Bothies

How about parking your car in Mach', hopping on the train to the start then riding back?

Car would be very safe in Mach'.

Re: Tramp Camp - interest?

Stu reckon I might be in if I can I bring the ManChild? He's only 12 and a better rider than me already, plus he quite likes his bivvi bag, is very quiet, doesn't take up a lot of space and will eat anything (everything).
No trouble at all.

Any more info where this will be?
Sorry, I do forget that not everyone has been to BB Towers. SY19 7BH will get you within a mile and SN 871976 will get you a lot nearer.

Tramp Camp - interest?

Before anyone goes to any real trouble, I just thought I'd check and make sure that it'll be worthwhile and see whether there's any / much interest ... last time this was planned in 2013, I asked anyone interested to raise their hand, hardly anyone did, so it was cancelled ... at which point people ...

Don't get me wrong, I've a rather big soft spot for Ti too, just never heard of anyone having good experiences with frying pans ... be interested to hear how you get on.

Re: The post man's been ...

Titanium frying pans , 2 x 900ml 125 gms 16cm and 1 x 1.2ltr 148gms 20cm .
They took a while to come "over a month " but they got here eventually .
2 questions.

1/ Why so many?

2/ Why Ti? It doesn't generally lend itself to frying pans, even when coated.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Could you actually upgrade it enough to bring it down from the quoted 19.4kg? I did actually look at this bike a while back as my wallet was twitching and I've been intrigued by fat bikes for a while, but the fact it's 5kg+ on almost every other bike I've looked at was putting me off. You could sha...

i was really up for this but im on a family camping trip Mrs Jay - Where are you going? Jay - Only nipping down the shop for a paper. Mrs Jay - Are you going on your bike? Jay - Yeah, thought it was easier now the car's all packed. Mrs Jay - Okay, well don't be long, we're going in an hour. Jay - R...

Re: Fargo 29+ called the Deadwood

They aren't going to get any cheaper. Just more scarce sadly.
Given the prices, I'm fairly sure that even if they were available in every LBS across the land, supply would outstrip demand by some considerable margin

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Verenti fat bike at Wiggle reduced to £350. There's a few bits you'll probably want to change like the 42t chainring but it's the only 'cheap' fat bike I've seen that looks worthy of upgrading - Reynolds frame too, although I can't imagine that'll be every tube  http://www.wiggle.co.uk/verenti...

Hey and there was me only a few weeks ago, concerned that a tie-in with Raleigh might 'cheapen' the brand

I've just looked at the 2015 full bike prices and to me, they look like a work of fiction ... fantasy fiction at that.

Re: The post man's been ...

Nearly all the bits have arrived for my new build. It's taken long enough that I reckon a new XT 1x11 set up would be a cheaper option than having bought all the stuff required to to 1x10 with a 42t. Hey ho. Yeah, just think, all that effort and expense to end up with what is effectively a bodge an...

Re: ESI grips

Why do you take your gloves off?
The joints in my fingers swell and become quite painful if my hands get wet and cold, oddly, I find I can keep them warmer with no gloves than with wet gloves ... wet gloves just prolong the suffering.

Re: ESI grips

Mine aren't too bad when wet, weren't slippery, but maybe that's to do with what gloves you're wearing more than the grips? I imagine without gloves, and some mud/dust already on the grip before they get wet, they could be lethal. Maybe that's it Gabe, I often remove my gloves when it starts raining.

As a slight aside ... contrary to the ESI bumph, has anyone else discovered that they become very slippery when they get wet? I recall Ian had when I mentioned it to him a while ago.

I too found that On-One OG bars were nicer than Mary bars, however I did run mine flipped for extra weird points. They've now been swapped for some Seven Cycles 20 degree Ti flat bars which feel perfect* *Until I change my mind and fit something else  It was mentioned that I change bars like w...

TCW? Nice, steady ride over 2 or even 3 days. If you work it out right you'll find enough shops and things along the way.

I've got an older Force10 version of this. Plenty of room, very stable and quick to pitch ... wouldn't really want to carry or ride with it though

(a) You've quite a bit of busy main A road in that, I wouldn't fancy riding up the road from Llanberis ... narrow, twisty, busy and full of drivers gawping at the hills. (b) There's a few setions of footpath too, given that they're in the NP, it may cause you some grief depending who you meet. (c) I...
