Re: Staffordshire ish ride

Family and work rather get in the way of a mid weeker but a weekend day ride would be good sometime.

Re: Bothy tales free on Kindle for the next few days.

Why not just buy it - its only a tenner and at least John, the author, would gets something for his efforts Surely he'll get paid anyway? Doubt it'll be as much as a full purchase though. Think the free amazon books normally pay the author by the page so have a good flick through. Dunno what happen...

Yeah, cheers both for your efforts. Have met some new people which is great and had an amazing weekend. Its a bit odd though, there's a fuzzy bit in my memory from about 24hrs ago where I seem to remember cursing anybody and anything I could think of including myself wondering why I ever signed up f...

So... Not me, but someone else, has forgotten to bring their helmet. Anyone able to bring a spare? If it helps we have already called him a knob.

Re: Brake pads

I had this problem and ended up, after much cleaning and replacing of disks and pads, deciding it must be a small leak. No visible trace of any fluid. The problem would go away temporarily with heavy use (front brake) and getting nice and hot. Managed to solve it in the end by picking up a set of Ma...

Re: Bike for me lad

A mate bought his grandson a orbea 24" mtb for xmas. It was a nice bike with rigid forks and seemed to be much better specced than the equivalent priced frog or spesh. https://www.orbea.com/gb-en/bicycles/kids/mx-kids/cat/mx-24-team-disc-19 Edit - found the link and orbea not merida! Good call...

Re: Map reading.....info

When I was growing up and starting to explore I was very much in the minority in being able to navigate using a map. But in the good old days, if you wanted to continue exploring, you had little choice but to learn the skills of navigation. These days, technology has lead some people to believe, it...

Re: Alternatives to glitter as a sealant additive?

Pretty sure I've seen hair clippings mentioned as a biodegradable option. Interesting idea, but sadly if you come and stand round the back and stand on tip-toes, you can just about see that I'm getting to being just a teeeny bit bald. I'd have to go over the road to the barbers and ask for some flo...

May not actually belong on this thread but hey ... 2019 Bear Bones calendars are now £8.50 delivered. I really don't want to be stuck with any as it seems such a waste. http://www.bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/shop/?product=2019-bear-bones-calendar Maybe bring them down to the winter event. Might be a...

Possible Winter Event Entry

It's not certain but I may have a spare Winter Event Entry. Will be for cost (£25) if it becomes available. Will try and get the chap to decide quickly on whether he will be back in the country in time or not.

Cheers.

Winter Event Entry Trading

Is this allowed? One of my group is wondering if he is going to be back from biking round Spain in time so its possible that I have a spare entry. Am I allowed to sell this on (for cost)?

He is only sporadically contactable at the moment so not sure when I will know if its available.

Re: Unethical Outdoors - Instagram

Am I missing something? I can see the odd picture of rubbish, vandalism and fires but in many of the pictures, I'm failing to see what's actually wrong or the issue being highlighted. Perhaps I'm from the generation that requires, clear, easily understandable captions or explanations? I'm also thin...

Don't disagree that LNT is a good thing, this particular site appears to be a bit on the extreme side for me. As a concept of how to get a point across it is OK.

From the email:

Each one the site of an ancient monument - it might be a cairn, a hill fort, burial mound or something else.

He doesn't say at which one either Alicia Vikander or Laura Croft will be based. Adds to the excitement I guess.

Ah, if only I liked whisky....lol. Thanks for the bit about difference between US and UK 'R' ratings, I didn't know that and seems very misleading. My current mat is a Klymit static V lite, which claims to be 4 season.... So suitable for winter camping in the UK? I have the Klymit Ultralight V (ins...
