Re: BB200 2023

My good news of the month is that I was speaking to my mate Donald (not Trump) about route planning and the efficiency of MyMaps app to find facilities. Sent him a screenshot of a Coop I'd found and how the app could work for him. He pointed out the halal pizza place that he frequents often. So... ...

Re: Gas Usage

Duncan, if you have a look on YouTube for a channel named "Gear Skeptic" he did a couple of videos on stove efficiency rather than outright speed. Actually I'm sure I've posted recently about them, he's really geeky :geek: . Basically having the stove set low enough that the flames aren't...

Re: Gas Usage

Yep I did turn it down a bit after the photo. Forgotten how fast and powerful the little bugger is. I've a few bags made up of Huel Mac and Cheese as it's one that actually seems to agree with my stomach and is pretty loaded with cals/carbs/protein etc. I normally wouldn't bother with the mug pack, ...

Re: Gas Usage

To answer my own question, now I'm happy I have plenty of gas, 300ml boiled in just under 2.5mins on about 3/4 power. Full power was far to much for my 650ml mug and flames were going round the side. Total used 4g of gas, so I should have about double the amount I'll need next weekend. Might have to...

Re: Gas Usage

Ta Stu, the only stats I can find on the internet (trust them at my peril!) say 2.3/2.4g per min on full power and 2m 30s to boil 350ml. Assuming that's all correct and conservatively allowing for 2.5g of gas per minute I should have enough for boiling almost 3l, which will be far more than the 750m...

Gas Usage

Hey for next weekend, I am going to bring my stove and pot so I can heat up some water for some huel meals if needed during the night. My only jetboil jetpower isobutane/propane canister is listed as 100g of fuel and currently weighs 170g. I believe they are approx 100g empty, so I'm assuming I have...

New Map Time

I currently used the UKBIKEPACKV1 maps on my Edge, Fenix and Basecamp, but I am currently on a trial of the OS website and like that extra detail they have. Are there any cheap options to get these maps for the UK into the Garmin echo system or any other options that are as good? Dave, is there any ...

Re: Ludlow

Well Ludlow is a really great place. Weather was a bit up and down as it rained a lot but was warm when it wasn't. Got a few nice runs in although where we were stayng in Lower Hayton, the footpaths and bridlepaths were seriously overgrown, several time I had to turn back. Shropshire is allow pretty...

Re: The great British train scandal

The UK pricing structure is a bit crazy. I could get the train from my home town to a place North of us I could start the last audax, for £4 one way. If I got the train to another station that is about three miles further but east, it was £9 one way. It also seems crazy that a single to my parents i...

I'm going to go with Garmin as it thinks it's ONLY 206.19 km Distance 3,931 m Total Ascent 3,931 m Total Descent as opposed to Komoot that thinks it's 215 km, 4,310 m A, 4,310 m D.

Re: Ludlow

We didn't bring the sup's in the end just bikes, good job as the river is very shallow. Our place is about 5m outside Ludlow. The town and area are very nice. Had a couple of walks and runs, the local trails don't seemed to be used much and so are mainly impassible due to growth. The sheep are provi...

Re: Tyre Patches

So after riding round Ludlow on holiday I noticed it has a serious bulge now and you can feel a bump as it rotates. As I want to do some more riding round here I have gone with a new tyre and when I get home I’ll have another look at the repair.

Re: Ham Curious

There's not really going to be any extra grip so unless the pattern obviously feels rubberised in some way I'd just use them whichever way they come out of the pack. Getting in - reach behind you and grab one edge of the hammock with each hand and spread the material out then sit down. That's all t...

Re: BB200 2023

Route speculation time, given that:

2019 was mainly NW.
2020 was mainly S
2021 was mainly E
2022 was mainly S/SW

2023 mainly N/NE towards The Brogan and Dyfnant Forest AKA 2015 area??

I hope so as I've never been that way before.
