I picked up a brand new 26" Conti Mountain King at the recycling the other day. Some charitable sort having no use for it :-bd

Re: OMN (Yet Another Post-Viewranger Navigation app thread)

Does the OS app not do all that you've mentioned? I plan longer rides in bikehike, as it 'snaps' to roads for long sections, and BWs in Nat Parks.

Re: Yorkshire Dales Bikepacking

I used it on last years YD300 and I'm absolutely fine a year later (I think). I reckoned all the lead ore would have been long since taken out so it would be fine.... Cue onset of alzymers...
Nah, it just recharges your 'pencil'.........

Yorkshire Dales 300, 2022

I've never written up a trip, but the YD300 route is great, and deserves more riders next year. If you're put off by the distance and worried you'll not make it in time, take a look at the shortcut that's possible on the first afternoon/evening near Bainbridge - it saves 70Km (from memory), missing ...

62 miles of that terrain is a decent spin out. Good effort.

What was your time Andy
Officially 32:39 I think, but I arrived late so went for the briefing at 8am then went back to the van to change and pack/faff. Left Skipton at 8.40 😣. 4 hour kip stop. Strava has just under 24 hrs moving. 2 pubs and Austwick cafe account for some of the rest…….😀

Sterling effort to finish in under 24 hrs John - especially in the headwind. I bivied at the foot of Cam High rd - bit chilly til it clouded over. Nice to chat to you Lee - hope the rest went well. Big thanks to Stu - great weekend out. It is a shame about numbers, but it's a funny year what with tr...

The West Cumbria Rivers Trust has been doing lots of restoration work local to us and this week, I’ve seen kingfishers twice along one beck. First time in the 17 or so years we’ve lived here. 😀

Been dithering over ordering Mrs B an ebike for a week or so. Made the decision to do it today and their sale had started, so £300 off :-bd £40 of that invested immediately on a sun kissed weekend of riding buff loamy singletrack (mostly downhill) in mid Wales in November. I was going to suggest the Cairn Brave, then read your post.
About to order Mrs B an Orbea Vibe - looks like a ‘normal’ bike but should double her wattage when needed.

I’ve reluctantly started using Mrs B’s old iPhone after years of android, so will be out on our lazy git/wildflower/weed lawn later.
My Huawei would take group pics remotely if you posed and waved your hand.

Re: HT550 Grand Depart - May 2022

I head straight for the bar at the river mouth since it’s reliable, if a little deeper. The water comes up to my neck, but the weight of the bike above my head keeps me planted on the gravel even as waves lap my chin. Blimey. Following Alan’s line was mid thigh deep after a very wet night in early ...
