Re: beach -v- in-land bivis

I bivvied on the beach a couple of weeks ago and as it was good weather I decided to sleep with my hooped bivvi bag open, after a couple of minutes I realised small insects off of the beach where jumping about in my bivvi bag and I had to zip up to get a good nights sleep and save my sanity  I...

Re: Lithium batteries

Thanks for the advice, 7dayshop were the cheapest but the £5.99 postage killed it.
Purchased off Ebay in the end at an unspectacular price, looking at some of the warnings it would
seem that it has been known for rogues to sell used batteries on Ebay

Re: Water.

First they weigh you and note the amount of fluid in your drinks bottles and then you complete three sets of 45 minutes on a turbo trainer followed by a 2 mile run, after each set you are weighed and the amount of fluid drunk noted and at the end you are weighed again. The intensity on the turbo is ...

Re: Water.

Last year I did a sweat test at Essex University which was quite interesting in as much that the result showed that I need between 500-700 ml of fluid per hour, depending on temperature, to maintain my meagre performance level and if you lose more than 2kg in body weight you are seriously dehydrated...

Re: Iditarod 2014

I think Cracknell is an inspiring person but the way they dramatise the races for television I don't partularly like. I agree with Stu, the Marathon de Sables documentary was very good, the Coldest Race just tepid and the Race Across America was weak, up until the point he nearly died and that made ...

Re: Anyone else not carry a phone?

I always carry my phone, but it is not turned on, I carry it because it might get me out of some sort of muddle,
and it gives me another option.
It has been known for me to call for my support vehicle when a mechanical has proved unfixable by the
side of the road

Re: Bikepacking in Norway?

The Lofoten Islands are fantastic and it is OK to camp anywhere, didn't see many trails to ride though, best suited to a road trip, well worth a visit, a tad expensive :???:
