anyone do it ? I have been living in camper vans since I left home. Self employed similar work when I want and choose my work. It's no bed of roses but it has afforded me enormous freedom over the last 20 odd years. The main thing I think is if you want freedom you have to avoid debt. There are man...

Re: Future plans.....??
I wanna do the trip to Spanish Lapland that was planned for this year but replaced by a ride around Dartmoor, which was probably tougher to be honest. It just looks amazing. https://montanasvacias.com/spanish-lappland/ @PaulB2 .... go the Big Bro frameset fella. Mine has become only the second bike...

Debt is the problem...that and the way it traps you in pointless energy sapping work. If your interested check out David greebers book 'debt, a history'. Also you might find this essay on pointless work interesting..

Re: I broke my sunrace mech extender... What replacement options...???
Glad it worked :-bd Also worth noting that if you go 11speed in the future the mech will still work as its the same cable pull, I use mine with 11 speed rs685 and works perfectly  Thanks :) have to say for a £50 mech it shifts great. The clutch makes a lot of difference! I tend to use my drop...

Re: WTD - Lightweight Stove Solutions
Should anyone be interested in an update; I have done what many a man before me has I'm sure done too. I've listened to all of your advice, done research based on your advice. and ignored all of it because I think I know better. Gone for a Trangia mini. 330grams is leightweight by my standards and ...

Re: I broke my sunrace mech extender... What replacement options...???
I've got the grx400 on a 40t cassette with no extender, and it works perfectly. It is on a 1x setup though...but should be fine on 2x as shimano are always conservative with range compatability and it's only a 4 tooth increase. Nice to have a clutch mech too. I can confirm the grx400 rear mech work...

Re: I broke my sunrace mech extender... What replacement options...???
10 speed or 9? If you are on 9 then try and acquire a non shadow rear mech (as in the old style ones). The top jockey wheels are slightly offset which allows them to work fine with a 40. No clutch but no issue if you are using a thick/ thin chainring. Sadly a 10 speed... And a 2x (46/30)....I think...

Re: I broke my sunrace mech extender... What replacement options...???
Yes I've just been reading about poeple using the grx400 without and extender and getting it to work with 42t sprockets. Some people have said that could be done with the tiagra mech but I couldn't get it to work....I might try the grx without the extender before I shell out the £20 for the wolf too...

I broke my sunrace mech extender... What replacement options...???
So yesterday I broke my sunrace gear hanger extender on my drop bar gravel bike. The rear mech got dragged into the spokes by mud and twisted it, snapping the extender that I was using. I have a 11-40 cassette and was using a sunrace extender (like Woolf tooth) to get my tiagra mech to work with the...

Intrigue....no doubt it's hard times but it is also incredibly interesting to see how everything is playing out. Ultimately life is always difficult for one reason or another, it always has been. The way I see it is all I can do is accept that and do the best I can given my resources and ability. Wi...

Re: A Q for the hammock users.
I think it takes more learning and getting your kit right but after that I wouldn't say it's any more faff, well not much more than a couple of minutes. My hammock packs into snake sleeves including the tarp. You just pull the sleeves back and it all drops into place...peg out the tarp and it's done...

Re: A Q for the hammock users.
For me it’s this: Hammocking is an activity in it’s own right. If I want to sleep in a hammock I’ll organise a trip around it. If I just want to go on a trip, I’ll ground sleep as it’s way more convenient, lighter and simpler. Whilst it’s true to point out that hammocks can to some places a bivi ca...

Re: Ebike questions.
I built this during lockdown. Under £1000 and relatively easy to do. A genesis latitude with bafang mid motor and 17.5 ah battery. Pretty good range 50-80 miles depending on how much effort you put in and terrain. I couldn't afford anoff the peg ebike. Now it's done I think you get way better value ...

Re: A Q for the hammock users.
I use a Hennessy super light. Has a mozzy net built in. I used it in Asturias this summer... Super humid and tonnes of biting things... Zero problems. The thing I like about hammocks are: The ground is simply not an issue. With my set up I get v nearly the protection of a tent without the weight and...

Re: New biodegradable no ammonia tyre sealant
Only about 200 miles and a couple of weeks since fitting the tyres but zero hassles thus far and very little pressure drop. As said above you can get it from wiggle now. Thanks for the heads up about it drying out I'll keep an eye out for that. On the price issue, each to their own, but I don't reck...
