Re: Pump recommendations please

I've had one of the lezyne 'mini track pumps' pretty much since they came out, which must be about, ooh, 2009 or so. Had a brief period of pressure loss due to dry o ring after a few years, now I take it apart, clean and regrease once every year or two and it's perfect. Still on the original o ring ...

Re: Angle Adjusting Headsets

I put a -2° set in my mk1 Solaris a little while back. I was curious as it brings it fairly close to the newer models (but not the newest). Emailed cotic beforehand and the response was more or less 'thats what we did when we were designing the next one, you might like it. It's not night and day dif...

Re: Todays ride

Today I did my first 'proper' road ride of the year, a fun run down to the south coast and back. Incredibly hazy, then mist blending into low cloud in the south downs- you couldn't really see the downs themselves even in the middle of them. Visibility on the beach at seaford was troubling double fig...

Re: Which lightweight "gravel" wheels?

I should add crests are also fine but a bit (and by a bit i mean unusably- I thought I was going to have to cut a nano off an American classic, which is the same bsd) tight on some tyres.

Re: Which lightweight "gravel" wheels?

Wtb kom on your hub of choice is what I've gone for. Narrow on the cross bike, wider on the MTB. I think they hit a nice sweet spot of weight/width/light/not fragile and at a generally sensible price. They also come up very cheap on CRC from time to time. They are I think nominally UST bead spec, wh...

Re: Simple drop bar conversion

An 11speed Shimano road shifter + an 11s wolftooth tanpan will shift a 10s Shimano MTB mech ok. Setup is a finnicky but it will work and has let me run out a 10s drivetrain. I also have a complete 10s road shifter - 10s tanpan- 10s MTB mech which is firmly in the 'set and forget' camp.

Re: Routes for skinnier tyres. Or not.

I took the cross bike along the South Downs, mostly on the SDW, from Eastbourne back to Hassocks at the end of that really hot week. Aside from getting rather rattled if you try and go too fast on some of the downs it's fine. Death by sliding in the wet though. Make sure you've got some decently low...

If you get an ask for the 350 but with the Shimano freehub (or you'd be willing to swap them over) I would very gladly take the XD freehub!

If the locking comes off separately it's not an XD cassette is it? I wasn't aware sunrace made them to be honest, I thought they only did normal/Shimano driver cassettes

I'm freeing up at work and feeling the need to get out but April already seems to be disappearing! Friday is the OHs birthday, next weekend I'm at a wedding- where does the time go?

Re: Dhb or fat

I tend to take a medium in shorts. DHB, morvelo and decathlon are all medium I think. I have some sportful winter tights that are wearable but rather snug in medium, so DHB certainly aren't the smallest for the size.

This could be good for me. I wanted to make it this year, but work racking up and a load of prep for having holes knocked in our house meant I didn't want to commit and then bail. If it's delayed I may be able to do it. So, bad news I guess, but potentially good news for me

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Apparently it's the same frame, the QC rejected ones - for what reason they were rejected I don't know. Interesting. I had to get mine second hand as I missed the last (only?) batch. I say missed, I talked myself out of it as I'd not had my pro6 more than a couple of years. I'm amazed they're not m...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Assuming it is the same as the foots Cray, and it looks identical, mine will get knards in there comfortably. The front will probably take a skinny MTB tyre but I haven't tried it yet. You're going to like it. It's astonishingly 'grrr' for a cross bike. Compared to my old pro 6 (with the same kit) i...

Re: Gloves

I seem to feel the cold in my hands a lot more than I used to and cold wet hands when riding is something that makes me really grumpy, so I'm a bit of a glove collector these days. 100% brisker is a cracking glove but it's not one I find enough for 'proper' cold. I'd not considered them for years be...

Ouch. I must admit I'd had 15 in mind, 20 at absolute the outside (I thought the picture design would be more expensive, but not that much more).

Is it the shading on the bear that needs the colour?

Re: More 'soft' stickers on the way.

There is something nice about a message on your top cap to keep you going- mine was a present from my other half and says 'hey Mat, shall we cycle up a massive hill today?'. That was the morning refrain each day on the first big mountain biking trip we did together. Mine came from kapz I think. I wo...

Re: WRT - Scary? Unappealing?

I've thought about it the last few years, and to be honest what's probably meant I've not got round to it is the time of year. It's been around the sort of time of a couple of other events I quite like. That and a regular club trip to North Wales late April all take up weekend days/weekends. It also...
