Re: 27.5 plus? Where are you?

Nobby Nics 2.6 front and rear for me.
Only 1 puncture last year - repairable in 5 mins with a Stans Dart. - Amazing considering that included 3 x Lakeland 300's, 2 x Peak 200's, Dales 300, Cairngorms Loop 300, a BB200 and a North Peaks 100.

Yes - The group start for the HT550 is still planned for 22nd May, but Nicola Sturgeon's briefing yesterday was very downbeat.

Re: NorthPeak100 or Peaks200 winter attempt anyone??

Good luck !

I figured a way of doing the Peak 200 over 2 days bivvying in my garden (Chinley) but will wait until the spring given the C19 lockdown situation and the fact it might be wet and snowy/icy this weekend.

Do folk sit the mug straight on top of the 22g burner once it is burning ? Or do they suspend it from the windshield using skewers ? or what ?

If Boris is on Strava then it can all be resolved quickly.

If he is not on Strava, then it didn't happen anyway ...

Also, I assume he only had one bodyguard with him otherwise that's another 'rule' in tatters ....

I have a few half empty canisters so this sounded quite a good way of consolidating the gas and then using cheaper butane sources in future, but are you suggesting that doing this is high risk ?

Re: Hate to bring it up again but ...

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) have just issued some guidance for England which suggests I can only exercise within the limits of my village. Not sure what that means in reality - Parish Council boundary ? It's a very active Peak District village (Chinley) - full of cyclists, walkers and f...

I have been very impressed with the Hoka One One Torrent 2 shoe: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/hoka-one-one-torrent-2-trail-running-shoe I had not heard of them before but the shoe is robust and offers good cushioning but not too much that I feel I am on platforms. Re: bespectacled night time off road runners

Would it be worth just buying some thick elastic and making a different headband for the Joystick? Can't be too difficult to make one that had the band still round head, but then strip over the top to hold the light on top of your barnet? Seems a much cheaper way, as the Joystick is a great light. ...

Re: NorthPeak100 or Peaks200 winter attempt anyone??

There are no high passes etc. so as long as it is not snowy / icy then the conditions for a winter attempt on the Peak 200 might not be that much different to other times of the year (i.e. wet!). The crux would probably be Cut Gate, but most of the ascent is a push (for me anyway!). Would need more ...

1 successful + 2 @ 75% of Lakeland 300
Yorkshire Dales 300
Cairngorms Loop 300
80% of BB200
2 x Peak 200
1 x North Peaks 100

For weekends/long weekends, I have recently been using the £2.95 per day (10 minute) Tracking option with Protegear. I keep it in "Standby" for the rest of the time which costs nothing. There is the ~£40 Annual Fee on top: https://www.protegear.com/products-data-plans/inreach-iridium-data-...

Yep - I'm definitely a plodder ! Bob (Whitestone) really drove it home to me that the best approach (for us mortals) is to minimise the stops.

I am hoping to do it in under 5 days this time (6.5 days in 2019 as an ITT).

I have a spare Befree 0.6L that I bought when I thought I had lost one but then found it again! It has filtered about 5 litres so is practically new.

I also have an MSR Tailshot which has filtered about 25 litres and still in good condition.

Both for sale. - If interested, please message me.

The drops were massive, I struggled to walk down some of them. Don't think I could have even done it in my DH days. Agreed. I note that Fabio Wibner hasn't made a video of that descent yet which says something ! I assumed that descent was The Gap that folk were referring to. - Where is The Gap then ?
