Re: Help please (before I get the big file out!)

I’ve got nightmare visions of them having the exact opposite problem in reverse and ending up shimming rotors.

I miss v-brakes, non of this nonsense. If they weren’t aligned you could fix it just by bending the springs back....happy days

Re: Help please (before I get the big file out!)

I’ll have a think. Might put the Reba back on at some point so would prob look to find a spare end cap if im going to do that. The washer is only 1mm so hopefully not too critical.

Spare stans endcap anyone...?!

Re: Help please (before I get the big file out!)

Thanks for everyone’s input. Having cursed the crap tolerances of stans hubs (and their toffee freehub bodies while we’re on the subject...) I thought I best try one more hub. And it turns out a superstar switch is also way off centre. So feck knows what is going on at this point. The calliper and h...

ScotRoutes wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 8:49 am I'm not familiar with the hub, but is it possible the end caps are fitted incorrectly, like on the wrong side?
Measured them - exactly same both sides. Then swapped them anyway just in case  no difference unfortunately.

Re: Help please (before I get the big file out!)

Is it stupid to try filing them down? Very. However, getting someone to machine them down wouldn't be an issue  Given the changing of parts, it would indeed appear that the hub is at fault. If you think you've a bit more room in the caliper slots then extending those further would likely be m...

Help please (before I get the big file out!)

Hoping someone has an inspired bit of advice before I resort to a big file. Recently swapped over to some new (to me) forks have been unable to centre the brake over the rotor. Fork is a prong, calliper is a hope x2 and hub is a Stans 3.30. You can see in the photo the calliper is at the limit of mo...

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

Good luck... I've been asking for a super-compact chainset for drop bars for over a decade now, since before the first Shimano drop-bar disc brakes appeared on the Croix de Fer  In that time we've gone from 32-50T to GRX 30-46... clearly I have zero influence there so maybe you can help me/us...

Re: What do you ride in?

I’ve recently given up on padded shorts - now wearing ‘underarmour tech boxer jocks’ - which are great - very thin, stretchy Lycra base layer material and not too expensive. Before that I’ve found dhb liner shorts good, padded merino boxers by vulpine good for commuting (but not long rides) and prop...

Re: drj0n bagworks

John do the bar clamps have enough flex to slip them onto the bat without stripping all the bar tape / levers / etc off first to slide the on? so these came through from the 3D printer - im calling them G-funk's - 31.8mm clamps that will take a 35-40mm M5 bolt and will therefore hold a bottle cage, ...

Re: Bike wall storage

Do you need a batten on the floor to stop the rear wheels moving? Home made is certainly an option stu, but nothing suitable in the shed and I’m wondering by the time I’ve bought steel to make hooks I could get these for not much more: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254086081811 Trouble is I would want ...

Bike wall storage

Following on from the man cave thread I’ve been inspired to sort our shed out.
If you store your bikes vertically against a wall could you post a picture of how you do it / what hardware you use. Hoping to cut out a bit of trial and error.
Thanks
