SOLD : Alpkit Love Mud "Bomber" Handlebars £ 12.50 plus postage

Black - In As New condition, these are now marketed as Sonder (but out of stock)

Postage will be about a fiver as I think they are wider than the Post Office limit of 45 cm - or else collect at a distance in Bristol

Budget Mini Front Rack Hack - New photo

27 Jan Update Added another photo with the bike out of the shed that may make things clearer : I have been using handlebar harnesses with drops for a while, but thought I would give the £10 E bay mini rack, or something very similar a go to free up a bit of space on the bars, and make packing a bit ...

Re: Tarp Fabric

I have bought a couple of different types of parachute rip stop from E bay that I used for the lining of my MYOG quilt. The materials do have different characteristics - one is "soft" , the other a bit more "crinkly" and my gut feeling, not founded on any science, was that the cr...

Re: Mini Front Rack Hack

Sorry, no weight but it felt very light, all aluminium construction.

(A bit reluctant to unbolt it now but will weigh it when/if I do - yes, much easier to remove a harness !)

Trenching anyone ?

Stumbled on this - like Everesting but "deeper" and perhaps relevant to plumbing the depths of depression.

Don't know how he got on but feels like a good cause to support

Re: Offa's Bike - Done

It really is a good route, lots of brilliant riding and my previous comment about comfortable walking shoes was meant tongue in cheek. I really recommend it, and hope more people will do it and post how they got on. The climb above Capel-y-ffin is a challenge, but ok. I have sent Stuart my route not...

Re: Offa's Bike - Done

Thanks RIP

No, the tomatoes were a rash decision when feeling very jaded and arriving at the Premier in Presteigne on a grey Sunday afternoon.

But generally a good snack inspired by Emily Chappel. Once you eat enough to bin the plastic box they sit nicely in the stem cell.

Re: Offa's Bike - Done

OS Maps says 324 KM for Offa's Bike. I did an extra 40 miles (consistent units !) due to the rail works and to get home.

Daily mileage was around 40-50 miles a day, a bit sobering. I recommend comfortable walking shoes !

Offa's Bike - Done

Having been stymied by the Covid lockdown, as was Stuart's ridethrough, I completed this in Mid August. I had a great time and hats off to Stuart for putting together a wonderful route with lots of interest - especially finding ancient holloways and drove roads and hill tops / stone circles / hill f...

Re: Gatewood Cape - Pole - Question for Stu

Would be nice if the hood had a slightly more rigid rim to make venting easier. Will think on't.

There is a bit ontinternet about mods to the cape - a chap called Gygagos. The suggestion is a big tie wrap pushed up through the sleeve for the hood pull cord to keep it open for venting.

Yes, at last something that works and isn't too expensive if you find a deal.

Very comfy riding wear during mixed conditions on Offa's Bike last week

Now, why don't they do trousers ??
