Re: Meeting Boners in the wild

I ran across JimmyG in the middle of nowhere this summer. I knew him already but it was still quite a shock as it was really remote.

Re: Tom Gibbs Record Breaking Borders 350 Write Up

Great read and a fantastic achievement. It's really nice to hear how he found all the different sections. I still can't believe he got round it so fast. Chapeau.

I don't mind the coach tbh. It took us ten hours from ullapool to Hawick with changes at Inverness and Edinburgh. The seats were comfy and we had a table and charger plugs plus a toilet. We were both quite happy to sit and watch videos and play cards.

Re: Is there any hassle free way to travel from London to Scotland by public transport?

Unless you box your bike coach providers won’t take them as luggage. This isn't true. I recently got our bikes on a coach by wrapping them in plastic sheeting, a friend then got away with bubble wrap on her bike. Someone on here since shared a link showing that coach operators will take a bike if i...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

July for me but not Joe (so far). I cycled up an extinct volcano, Ruberslaw, to meet a couple of friends who had hiked up to celebrate my friend's 54th birthday. It was cracking weather and a great laugh. I slept in one of the tarps from Joe's shop for the first time, with one of his Tyvek bivvy bag...

New bike day thread

I couldn't find a thread for us to show off our new bikes so I thought I would start one. Let's see your new bike then and tell us all about it.... I will start with mine which I collected yesterday - a cheap-as-chips Decathlon Triban RC120 road bike - only £250. I got it on Gumtree - it was second ...

Re: Cycling in Germany - Anywhere Good?

I was rather stunned when we were in Germany to find that you are expected to cycle on the pavement in towns and cities. I'm so used to getting a row for it here and Germans do everything by the rules so it was a bewildering about-turn for me.

Well done Martin. Yes as she says, the Border Buses X95 Carlisle-Edinburgh service and the X62 Galashiels to Edinburgh via Peebles service allow you to carry bikes for free with no booking required. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/4qFW-at-eE5perFQ5r2ORyEqP8ERMRjs5PlUhsyfqeSkIhsBXofjBzoAituR0mqJ9V6...

Well you have just joined so nobody knows the first thing about you. Afterburner or 22g?

I lent my afterburner stove to a friend recently who was quite taken with it and wants to buy one. She saw that Stu also has a 22g stove in his shop and wondered which would be the better one to get?
Anyone tried both who could give a few plus points for either?
Cheers

There have been other incidents in that area recently so it's possible that it's the same landlowner. The gate above Cashel Dhu was locked in May but by happy accident it spontaneously jumped off its hinges shortly after. I got really into alcohol-free lager when we were in Spain. They have it on tap there even in little out-of-the-way bars and it's great - really crisp and refreshing without that 'drag you down' feeling of alcohol on a hot day. When we got back I went through all the ones I could find and my favouri...

Re: Tachycardia - maybe?

In the summer, dehydration can play a major part in heart rhythm. I believe. I am not a medical person though and as others say - just get it checked out. The NHS would much rather you did this and made use of all the fantastic machinery they have there than wait and become an emergency. I had a bit...
