Re: Shoes for flats
Sadly Salomon's suit my foot size (12.5-13uk) and type. Sadly cos they're sooo pricey, so I generally buy whatever I can find in a sale; currently speed cross vario for no other reason than a bargain price and quick drying. Not a gortex lined one as they are heavy when they get soaked and take an ag...

Re: SRAM front mech help.
Bit the bullet and ordered a SRAM GX 2x10 low clamp mech now. Hopefully that'll do it.
I'm a little impatient to get my monster cross running...
Cheers

SRAM front mech help.
Hi, My sram front mech needs replacing as the cable bolt is knackered and I can't see away to get it out or the captive bolt behind it. I've taken the mech off but it all seems to be some sort of press fit holding the arm on. My current mech is a sram x7 2x10 clamp mount the same as below, but I'm s...

Re: Knackered knee replacement
I could but I don't want the THC which makes you high, or to get on nicked. CDB is practically THC free and legal

Re: Knackered knee replacement
Yeh I'm 47. I've been trying to avoid painkillers and antiinflammatories as much as I can as they're not exactly good to be taking constantly and they never seem to really help, well maybe they help to some degree but its still too painful to do what i need/want to, maybe I shouldn't avoid them... Y...

Re: Knackered knee replacement
Cheers for that. Yeah, if something's not done I'll not be able to do my job, my leisure activities (all outdoors stuff) and as you say cost the government a damn site more long term if I'm incapacitated. Never mind my mental health. I have decided that if I'm told its needed (but they want to wait)...

Knackered knee replacement
Hi, just wondering if anyone has had a partial or full knee replacement? And experiences getting back to stuff afterwards. I've had arthoscopy on my right knee 7years ago and now my knee is buggered again. X ray is showing osteoarthritis, medial damage to tibia head, wear and tear and narrowing join...

Maybe too late but maverick app for android is my choice. Free, caches maps for off line use and can get free OS maps up to 1:25k as well as other maps layers.

Re: Which mechanical discs for drop bar set up
Cheers for that. Yeh, I know you can't tell my bike fit from a photo of a naked bike was just wondering if it looked like the right ball park you'd expect for a 'monster cross' set up. Once I get the bits I'll tweek it from there. I will go for a flared bar but probably not as extreme as woodchipper...

Re: Which mechanical discs for drop bar set up
Rather than start another mtb drop bar/monster cross thread I thought I'd put this pic up here of my charge cooker 3 with a trial set up. Just wondering if it looks right for height of bars before I look at spending money on disks, levers, cables and the rest of it? These are just some standard road...

Re: I don't get this at all (event)
I work in outdoor access and I'm amazed at what people are fearful off. Often things I find hard to consider an issue. It's really silly at times. My 9 year old has more confidence, ability and sense than many grown adults outdoors. Very good point. I know that at times I'm guilty of forgetting jus...

Re: I don't get this at all (event)
It's not something that would interest me, but I think there is definitely a market for this type of event and dare I say it a need to pass on some sense and knowledge in a supported environment for the benefit of ' the rest of us'. I pretty much do everything I do ( walking, cycling, sailing etc) s...

Thanks for all the replies.
Know what I'm after now and was thinking a alpkit bomber bar and a pretty steep stem, think 35deg was the steepest I found.

And I assume braking will be fine for off road ventures with road calipers? I don't do knarly trail centre downhill stuff obviously, just bikepacking/touring.

Re: Which mechanical discs for drop bar set up
I know that's the case for rear derailleurs, so the same for brakes too?
Just wondering as obviously the SRAM apex double taps are road brifters. So I do need road calipers?
Another option was trp spyres.
