Re: Big Bear 520

It's a brilliant route - takes in loads of good trails. Definitely 2 days minimum and more like 3-4 to do in comfort. There are overnight under cover options if bivvying isn't popular - from the YHA at Ty- y - cornel to old churches to b&b's. I started at Caersws but only so I could get a (disap...

Re: BB200 2023

Unless something changes next weekend, this years award for 'cutting it fine' will go to Alpkit Kenny who set off on the 300 at 07.35 on Sat and returned at 19.33 on Sun. Surprisingly, I recall last time, he returned with even less margin. The first edition of the BB300 he came back about 1 ...

Re: BB200 2023

I was racing a Landrover and also had a bunch of motorbikes coming the other way at points. No such luck with the clearness for me. I think I met that landrover - it passed me on the road and then I passed it shortly after - I personally wouldn't take a (standard looking) series three through that ...

I'm still not entirely sure how it's possible as I'm fairly certain I spent that long in *** areas redacted ***. The bow waves through hub deep puddle after hub deep puddle after hub deep puddle would have been impressive Hub deep? Some of them came up to the top of my wheels! Were you riding...

This is why I thought this situation was ok Bob. As I was trying to areange it for everyone? But to ensure that, would you not have to contact every rider directly? Aha. So if I asked you or Dee to put out an announcement via email. Then it might be acceptable :-bd nay or yay? Good point Stu, ta. I...

Re: The BB200 Tyre Anxiety Thread

I have Ikons front and back - they're what's fitted....

I think a Nobby Nic on the front and a Ralph on the back is often an ideal balance of grip, robustness and rolling resistance.

There's loads of riding where the you don't need the grip - fire roads and tarmac just want fastish tyres.

I might sign up - guaranteed a podium 😉 (if it were a race !!)
There's a handful more Steve.
I might leave them to it - fancy an easier ride with a bivvy if the weather's good

Got a topeak seatpack - good condition and still has the drybag inside. Might be the 12 litre one. £20 posted or make an offer

So the 200 route and 300 look similar - will we be able to decide when we get there?

I think that is in part the poor bite valve it comes with
I used a camelbak bite valve as the original one was not good.

Re: Frame Mounted Hydration...

I had the apidura 1.5l one, and to be honest I didn't like it. You had to suck quite hard to lift the water from the base of the frame to mouth height and it gave me ulcers (this was over several days though). I always found the bite valve in the wrong place (was on the bars not my chest), and diffi...

I keep stuff, including wood- have you seen how expensive wood is to buy?
But my dad is on another level - he's got a box full of oak offcuts - nothing longer than 3". To me that's kindling but he won't let me have it (he's 87 and never going to use it)

29" wheels Paul. Check the steerer you need though as the steerer on these forks are expertly cut to very short
