Funny, the video doesn't show much of that being drunk - maybe it was for the camera person not the worker?

Same caviar and oysters as last year for the first riders home? Better leave early and get a spurt on...
Looking forward to this again this year.

Re: Pro 2 evo bearings
Check out eBay for them. They are standard size bearings, the code for which is on the seal - it'll say something like 7005 2rs. The 7005 is the size and the 2rs is double sealed ( as in both sides, not each side is double sealed) Depending on supplier you should pay £2 each for cheapies or £8 each ...

Re: Highland Trail 2015
Zdb, when you connect the 800 to a laptop it has 2 folders ; the internal drive is one with all the application software etc in, and the SD card folder. There is a "new files" folder in both. You can drop the gpx into either or both, and the gps can deal with it. The route is then called &...

Re: TMB in September
Very interested, but I'm getting worried that this bike packing ITT thing might start to become a part time job (without the benefit of getting paid). Would need to pick the dates very carefully though to avoid a lot of damage at home......

Re: Highland Trail 2015
I got the whole route on 29 a4 sheets last year at 1:65k. As it printed it all double sided it came out as 15 sheets of paper. Most of the navigation is easy, just a few bits where care is needed, but as ever, you can get carried away just riding and forget to take the turn etc if you are not using ...

Re: Highland Trail 2015
Last year I stood staring at the fence we're all looking at now, thinking; how the f do I get my bike over there. Then Gary thompsett turned up and because he's 6foot something he helped lift the bikes over. Maybe we should all travel in pairs to that point!

Re: Peak ITT
Good ride Ian. It's always interesting to hear the highs and lows people go through on long rides - you must know the route pretty well to do it without Maps though. I can recommend a GPS as it makes all the faff with phones etc a thing of the past. Well done! 5000 calories! You mu st have been eati...

Re: Highland Trail 2015
Good to hear you're riding again Steve! Is that so theres someone to take your pic at the end after they have dropped out? I have a different strategy this year. It involves less speed, eating and aiming to finish...... But who knows as I think finishing involves a lot of grit, determination, fitne...

Maybe this will have its own niche? 29er hardtail with 165 cranks. Another completely separate niche is the 26er hardtail with 165 cranks. Finally I am in the select few!

Re: 22/30/40 chainset on a 29er.
Not running those ring sizes, but on my commute today with 165mm cranks on the road bike it felt easier to go faster, I think I was spinning the pedals faster in easier or equivalent gears, and it seemed easier to pedal smoothly in circles. I am sure faster cadence and smaller chainrings means you w...

Re: Which part of the world do you live, and do you like it?
Live near Warwick, which has loads of road riding on quiet country lanes down towards the Cotswolds or Oxfordshire, and quite a lot of uninspiring off road riding. Not enough hills for my liking, and no pub within walking distance is a pain. Any decent riding is a 1 hour drive, so I tend to use the ...

Have a look for rab top bags - they might not do them any more, but with a sleeping map and an insulated jacket I find mine toasty. 500g or so.

Re: The post man's been ...
Ray, I had knee pain behind the kneecap on long rides. Had a bike fit and the bloke took one look at me (5ft7) and my bike setup and hinted that my cranks looked too long, which was supported by my knee pain symptom , then he measured loads of angles, adjusted saddle height down and looked at pedall...
