Re: Curse of the BB200 prep (Kemo M172 HELP!)

slowupslowdown - let me know how much you want for it - happy to pay etc. royab - check out the Garmin forums - they may have some words of wisdom (it's a shame Garmin don't read their own forums as they might be able to fix some software issues). My Garmin 800 locked up and could only be fixed by w...

Re: Curse of the BB200 prep (Kemo M172 HELP!)

You have nothing to lose than to open the unit and put the wire back in then. Then seal it shut with bathroom sealant (not the one that gives off acetic acid when curing though as that will corrode the insides). Then order a new one if that fails (or sell the broken one to me as I might be in the ma...

I think I would buy a new wheel after losing the bead/nipple/thread for the 15th time.

Hope they patented that system! :?

Re: The BB 200 Thread

Composite - don't prep too much - you can't prepare for the Carnau! Just make sure you follow the route on your GPS (assuming you are using one). Then head for a "ravine" from the top you can just make out a ravine/valley where a stream exits the Carnau - this is a key bit to getting off t...

Yes, thanks all. Of course, if anyone gets a faster time, it will be clear that a solo ride on a 26er is much harder than the event! ;)

Re: The BB 200 Thread

I hope I haven't scared anyone! Just remembered - had a bit of a giggle after surprising a couple at the Claerwen Dam car park - she was sat in the doorway of their van giving some special attention to her fella (or at least I assume it was her fella). Don't think they were expecting someone to appe...

Re: The BB 200 Thread

Blimmin heck - there's a few people waiting for my tales of woe! OK, so the whole ride took me 15hr 46mins - faster than last year but slower than Ian. I was on track for a 14'ish time (when going by distance and what I remembered of the route), but the last 20km took forever (there's a lot of pushi...

I have an old HID light plus 2 batteries that I need to get rid of. One battery gives 1.5 hours and one gives 3-4 hours. Yours with charger for £30. Email me at slarge at jaguarlandrover dot com if interested

Blackhound - not sure where you are but I can leave my sleeping bag and bivvy bag in a drybag with Stu if you want - it's a Rab topbag, so only good if you're not planning on stopping!

Have loads of wheels and stuff if you are close to Warwick, and a bike if you are 5'6"

Yes, ghetto tyre inflator from a coke bottle has saved me ££££ in CO2 canisters. I am scared to go over 60psi in the coke bottle though - it looks a bit fragile!

Re: The BB 200 Thread

Last year there were a few muddy sections, and I think super fast (slick) tyres might struggle on these and wet grassy bits - go for a mid tread tyre (Racing Ralph, Ardent? etc).

I am doing the BB200 this weekend as I can't make it next weekend so I will post a trail conditions report here on Sun/Mon

Jack, bad luck mate - you seemed to be getting quite a mileage in according to Strava. As predicted, I am also out (thanks Stu for the refund). I am off to Italy to see eldest son that weekend as it fits with my much better half's plans! I am, however, doing the BB200 on my own this weekend - same r...

Was going to be my Stumpy hardtail (2002, so a 26"), but dealing with a grumpy mrs at the moment as she wants to go to see eldest in Italy that weekend (only announced that today) so I may have to scratch the BB200 (do I keep her happy or me happy? - my heart says me, my head says her!)

I know where you mean Stu - I'm not looking forward to that either, but it's only 10minutes to warmth and dryness after that (10 mins may be an exageration, but that's what I am telling myself)

Re: Suggest a 2 or 3 day ride for me...

Lakeland 200 would get my vote - I have just done most of it over 2 days and it would be a perfect 3 day ride. Fantastic scenery, enough hike a bike to get you used to carrying for the BB200, and enough mileage/climbing to satisfy any training regime. Day 1 - Staveley to Eskdale or Wasdale, Day 2 Es...

Re: Pennine BW end to end - tomorrow!

Good ride though Ian! I know how gritty that route gets, and when it's wet it gets into your shorts and makes itself very unwelcome. I hope you found that the muddy / claggy sections were quite short - from memory there's only a few tracks and fields that could get soft (and one well trodden by cows...

Re: The BB 200 Thread

There's the odd tap available if you look on houses and farmyards, just be sensitive if it's the middle of the night! I filled up in a peaty stream last year, then emptied it all as soon as I found a tap. There's the odd reservoir as well that should have something resembling drinking water as well....
